The playoffs took a back seat to the election fever gripping the country yesterday. League 1 kicked thing off: Chesterfield 0-1 PNE. PNE have never been promoted through the playoffs but this could be their year. They scored after 6 mins. Chesterfield grew into the game and were unlucky in the end. Although Jimmy Ryan was a lucky boy. He elbowed Paul Gallagher in the face but escaped with a yellow card. Sheffield Utd 1-2 Swindon. Big budget United fail miserably at home. That's my headline. United took the lead but Swindon showed no fear and deservedly won the game in injury time. Their counter attacking play is a joy to watch. Investment in their youth system i…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30359229 Seriously, what the hell do some Chairmen want...any club can become a giant kill victim... They seemed to have started to get some consistency in play if not results in the league and showed at least some signs of being able to survive.... so the manager spoke his mind ... if it was diabolical then why not say so...

What a waste. Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore has been suspended by the club after testing positive for cocaine. The 25-year-old failed a random drugs test after the club's 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace on 25 April, Sky Sports reports. The club, who are battling to avoid relegation from the Premier League, said in a statement: "Following suspension by the FA the Club has subsequently suspended Jake Livermore pending further investigations to be made by the FA and our own internal disciplinary procedures. "The Club is unable to make any further comment during this process." Livermore has made one appearance for England, in a friendly against Italy in August…

Chesterfields manager Paul Cook has moved to Portsmouth and Chesterfield have appointed Dean Saunders! My Spireites mate is distraught and says they'll be joining us in league two.

What do you folks think of this? This is where @super_ram was originally from, so I thought I would share it. I noticed @Dan discussing their new kit, which also is unlike their tradition but the shirts are quite nice. Whereas I don't like this, it's very Americanised.

One of these will be joining us in L2 next season. Any preference? I'd prefer Grimsby myself. Closer to Notts. Less of a threat than Rovers I reckon.

I managed to finish top of the Notts County league and 124th out of 35,000. Very happy with that. I was way behind at the end of August but stuck with it. I really enjoyed it. Learned a lot about the various clubs and players.

I was watching Rotherham's pitch invasion after they stayed up last night. Why? Because you are less rubbish than 3 other sides? Because staying up is the height of your ambition? I find the fact that Notts are in yet another relegation dogfight depressing to be honest. There's nothing to celebrate. I know others will disagree, mostly those that will be running around the various grounds up and down the country this coming weekend!

Colchester vs Swindon - If Colchester win, they move out of the relegation zone. They are unbeaten in 2. Swindon haven't won in 3. Colchester fought back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 at Fleetwood. I think they'll win this one. 2-1. Colchester vs PNE - PNE need a win to secure promotion. I can't see Colchester denying them. 0-2. Crawley vs Coventry. Coventry were well beaten by Crewe at home on Saturday. Crawley were unlucky to lose 4-3 at Peterborough. Both sides aren't in the best of form but Crawley are tough to beat at home. 2-1. Crewe vs Bradford - Crewe have impressed me. They have a never say die attitude. Bradofrd have nothing to play for but I think they w…

Good Morning everyone, I have heard that the Swindon plan re the use of players is that they plan on playing a near full strength team tonight against Colchester and then an under strength team against Leyton Orient on Sunday.

Remember Spencer Weir-Daley? To be honest it wouldn't be a surprise if you dont, his time at Notts during the Steve Thompson/Charlie Mac days wasn't exactly memorable. These days he's playing for Corby Town, and he'll probably never have to buy a drink in the town again after he scored twice on Saturday including the winner in their title showdown with Poole to cinch promotion to the conference north/south. Sadly Weymouth's title challenge collapsed long ago - and it came down to 90 minutes between Poole Town and Corby Town on Saturday. Both sides went into the game on 91 points, and Corby needed to win the game to win the title due to Poole's superior GD. It was…

Oh how they have fallen, I guess you could say that it was written that once Ronnie Moore went to Hartlepool that they would end up relegated. I wonder how the Chairman feels now after sacking him and then watching him go on to work miracles at Hartlepool, more importantly how must their fans feel now.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/tables From Scunthorpe to Colchester, any of these 8 teams could still go down. Here's the fixtures for next Saturday: Coventry vs Crewe. Neither side is safe. Coventry need at least 1 more point so they will be going for it. I don't see Crewe getting anything from the game. 2-1. Fleetwood vs Colchester. Fleetwood have nothing to play for. Colchester need a win, I don't see them getting it. 1-1. Leyton Orient vs Sheffield Utd. Sheffield Utd will want to finish 5th so I can see them going for it here. Leyton Orient were one of the favourites for promotion at the start of the season. A draw me thinks. 1-1. Notts County v…

Link to Article - Here I have to say when I noticed Kevin's post about this, I smiled and said out loud 'I'd do the same thing'. What a fantastic relationship they have, I realize some will go on about 'showing off' but Kevin isn't like that. It's just good fun, combined with a little bit of banter. I would loved to have seen the baggies reaction or Brummy fans!! Haha

This is a great resource for fans to plot the history of their club, just click on the name of the club and follow it's history by scrolling to the right, you will need to be on a desktop computer otherwise there is too much scrolling. You can highlight two or more clubs to compare their histories and the ups and downs over the years. I made the mistake of comparing Notts to Florist, now I am depressed so I wouldn't recommend doing that. Give it a try. https://public.tableau.com/s/gallery/history-english-football-league?utm_source=Hootsuite&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=TableauSocial

This match has just been postponed because Swindon Town have six players called up for international duty. I know I have probably bored you with the Swindon model but I think this shows what is possible with (luck and) good judgement. Massimo Luongo, bought from Tottenham Hotspur after loan spell, and Yaser Kasim, signed on a free transfer having been released by then non league Luton Town, have been called up by Australia and Iraq respectively and must now be considered regulars. Four of our current loan players have been called into the England Under 20 squad which must speak volumes for the experience they are gaining whilst playing in League 1. I know this is in al…

I've just been watching the FA Cup draw for the semi finals, I swear blind that Dermot O'Leary who is an Arsenal fan deliberately drew out Arsenal to play either Bradford or Reading, he seemed to be looking at the monitors, there were only four balls in the see through bowl it would be quite easy for him to cheat and pick out Arsenal's number when he saw that Bradford or Reading had been drawn out. It's the perfect draw for Arsenal. Anyone else see it? I think the people they choose to draw the balls should be neutral especially when there are very few balls left.

When are the FA & the Football League get a grip of this club for it's fans behaviour? Yesterdays behaviour has left someone fighting for their life, at what point will the football authorities actually get a grip and make Jez Moxey actually do something to stop their fans acting this way?? Given that this occurs at every Wolves home match (violence towards opposing fans) surely they should be firstly made to play their remaining games at the home of all their opponents with no Wolves fans allowed to attend and also threatened with demotion to the Conference if this ever happens again. Not only would that hit them in terms of away advantage but it would a…
