  1. Started by Fan of Big Tone,

I watched the playoff game yesterday between Villa and Fulham and I’ve got to say I felt very sorry for our Jack, he was obviously targeted as a danger man and had to suffer some crunching tackles, including what looked like a deliberate stamp on his thigh right in front of the dug out and fourth official, definitely a sending off offence but no action taken. There is no doubt he will play in the premiership one day but it wasn’t to be this time.

What a snake! Is there any loyalty in football left? ... I think not. He started to build something at Derby and was keen to make the most of his stay. He had the backing of owner Mel Morris and he's well and truly stabbed him in the back. Asking to talk to a club is embarrassing of a manager of his quality. More importantly does this affect our chances or getting Mason Bennett on loan next season?

I’ve watched all the second leg matches on tv so far and it makes me laugh when the team that goes through celebrates with their fans as if they are promoted, the players go mad, the crowd spills onto the pitch and put the players on their shoulders etc., err hang on lads you aren’t up you’ve still got another game yet! It will probably be the same tomorrow at Meadow Lane whoever wins.

Though to be fair, it would have been incredibly brave to bet on Allardyce or Moyes still being in charge of their respective clubs next season! Allardyce and Moyes relieved of duties at Everton and West Ham.

Commiserations to my old mate @super_ram I watched the game last night, felt sorry for the Derby fans, especially the youngsters who made the journey us oldies have seen it all before but it’s upsetting for the kids. I did think that Fulham deserved to win the game on the night though they were the better team.

  7. The EFL has announced that a vote will take place at their AGM in June to decide on whether producing matchday programmes should continue to be a requirement for each club playing a league home game. “At is summer meeting in June 2018, the EFL will vote on a proposal that will determine whether or not it is an absolute requirement to produce a matchday programme from the start of the 2018/19 season onwards," a statement read. “A number of clubs have asked the EFL if the mandatory publication of a matchday programme can be addressed as a result of an overall decline in sales and the proliferation of digital and social media, which has the ability to deliver the s…

The partnership between the EFL and Quest will guarantee accessible high quality, free-to-air coverage for football fans across the country. 9. So then, one regular-season fixture left in the saga that has been the 2017/18 League Two season. Although Notts County WILL finish in the playoffs (barring of course points deductions to any of the teams in the top seven, not tempting fate!), they can finish as high as fourth and as low as seventh. So in terms of getting those extra little advantages in the semi-finals, here are the detailed permutations of all the teams that can still make the playoffs come the final whistle of the 46th matches of the campaign, courtesy of the Nottingham Post and in order of current league position. Exeter City Current place: Fourth Play-off spot: Guaranteed …

  10. With the season coming to an end, the EFL have announced most of their yearly award nominations, as well as naming their teams of the season. Unfortunately, Notts County haven't got one player in the League Two team of the season, nor have any players been nominated for the player of the season award. Here is the League Two POTS shortlist: Adebayo Akinfenwa (Wycombe), Mohamed Eisa (Cheltenham), Billy Kee (Accrington Stanley) And this is the team of the season:

  13. From BBC Sport (link to full story): The German Bundesliga, Spain's La Liga, Italy's Serie A and France Ligue 1 are some of the leagues in Europe to have a winter break in their schedules, and the Premier League is also considering introducing one when the next television rights deal is agreed. In a statement, the Premier League said it had been "in discussions" with the EFL and the FA, but, due to the intense calendar of the EFL, Shaun Harvey says it is not feasible for a winter break to be rolled out below the top flight. "We have been involved in the discussions to start with. The EFL won't observe a winter break," said Harvey. "We have a 46-game season.…

  16. On Tuesday night, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) awarded its first goal in English football. Kelechi Iheanacho, playing for Leicester City against Fleetwood Town in their FA Cup third-round replay at the King Power Stadium, latched on to a Riyad Mahrez pass and fired into the net in the second half. The linesman initially flagged for offside, disallowing the goal, but a review via VAR showed that the Nigerian striker was onside when played in by Mahrez and so the decision was overturned. VAR seems to have had some teething problems in the last few months but this successful decision shows it may be on the right path. However, a lot of fans have been…

  17. Started by Joe Jones,

The Video Assistant Referee will be used for the first time in English football in the third round of the FA Cup in January. Director of Professional Game Relations at the FA, Andy Ambler, told theFA.com: 'The FA has always been open to trialling new innovations and was heavily involved in the advancement of goal-line technology before it was introduced. The trialling of the VAR system in this season`s Emirates FA Cup from the third round is a continuation of that and further demonstrates that whilst being the most famous and historic domestic cup competition in the world it is also modern, progressive and innovative.' Do you think it's a good idea? Will it…

  18. Last year John Sheridan famously cancelled Notts County's Christmas party as the team was lurching from one defeat to another. This year, things are much different and as such the players have had their do in Dublin (as Adam Collin's Insta page showed). However, Sam Allardyce has recently made the news after saying he would cancel Everton's Christmas party. So over to you - should a struggling team have their Chrimbo do cancelled and focus fully on the games, or could that end up being counter-productive and harm morale and team cohesion further? (After all, Notts' slump didn't end after their party was cancelled)

  19. The BBC has released their annual Price of Football survey (here's the full list if you fancy taking a look) and although there is some good news regarding ticket prices, trends still suggest that people are being turned off going to games. From the BBC website: The BBC Price of Football study has found the majority of ticket prices have been frozen or have fallen for a third year - yet a poll of young adult football fans suggests the cost is still putting them off. This year BBC Sport asked more than 200 clubs across the United Kingdom for information on ticket prices and found almost two thirds of price categories have been reduced or remained the …

Okay, this can come from any league or period within the history of football and belong to any club (so it doesn't have to be Notts related) - I just want you to name three players that you like and a further 3 more that you don't! GO...... Like: 1: Georginio Wijnaldum - Just a very good player that is humble due to his roots. 2: Tony Adams - Childhood icon for me and one of the best English defenders ever. 3: Steven Gerrard - It's hard not to like Stevie, he's great around children and is a fantastic role model to all. Don't Like: 1: Messi - I just can't stand him, very arrogant and his public image a way from football needs some major work. 2: Ro…

  21. From Sky Sports News: All 72 EFL clubs have agreed to implement three-year bans for supporters found using smoke bombs, flares and fireworks in a bid to “put an end to the dangerous use of pyrotechnics”. The clubs have signed up to a new Chairman's Charter looking to stop the use of any pyrotechnics within EFL stadiums amid concerns for supporter safety. Fans could face consequences if they attempt to take a banned item into a ground or if they are found to have discharged pyrotechnics within a stadium. Are you pleased about this rule coming into place?

  23. From the official EFL site: EFL clubs have indicated they would be in favour of an earlier closure of the transfer window from next season onwards. The decision was taken at a meeting of all 72 clubs and, subject to further discussions, will be put to a formal vote in February next year ahead of any changes being implemented in time for the 2018 Summer Window. While the EFL is under no obligation to make any changes, the EFL outlined a suggested approach that differs from the recent adjustment by the Premier League, whereby a shorter window for permanent transfers would be introduced, but clubs could continue to sign players on loan until the traditional en…

  24. From BBC Sport: Premier League clubs have voted to close next summer's transfer window before the 2018-19 season starts. Managers have complained that signing players once the season is under way causes disruption to their squads and preparations. From next season, the window will close at 17:00 BST on the Thursday before the Premier League campaign begins. The vote was not unanimous and clubs will still be able to sell players until the end of the normal window. Fourteen Premier League clubs voted in favour of the amendment, which was the minimum total needed for the plans to be approved. Manchester United, Manchester City, Watford, Swansea and C…

  25. So it's been rumoured that the Premier League will be discussing the possible introduction of Saturday night (7:45pm) kickoffs for games. As we all know, Saturday night is the primest of primetime TV, with a load of those terrible reality shows being broadcast at that time. So by the looks of it, the PL is pondering whether they can have a slice of that pie. Now, the issues here are obvious. Imagine if you had something like Newcastle v Bournemouth, those poor sods on their away day will be faced with leaving Newcastle at something like 10-11pm, probably wouldn't get back to Bournemouth till 4-5am the next day. Then the drinking - more time for fans to get …
