  1. Cam Norrie reaches the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time. Well done Cam.
  2. Lloyd Glasspool & his partner battle through to third round of men's doubles. Into the 2nd round of the mixed doubles for Neil Skupski & Desire Krawczyk.
  3. I do like to hear Mark Stallard as a summariser on BBC Notts County commentaries. He adds passion, personality, knowledge and entertaining banter to those commentaries, & he was the perfect foil for Charlie Slater as they took us through our promotion season.
  4. Latest from the MET Office. Rain spreading east on Saturday.
  5. It was so sad that the original Macclesfield Town came upon hard times and was unfortunately wound up in Sept 2020. A phoenix club Macclesfield FC, rose from the ashes and began life in the North West Counties Premier Division, the fifth step of the National League system, in August 2021, and currently competes in the Northern Premier League following two successive promotions. It's great to see Macclesfield coming back and they can still dream of returning to league status one day.
  6. I've been very impressed with Jim over the last few weeks since Luke left. The management showed great confidence in Jim to step in and Jim stepped up to the plate & acted in such a professional way. It was clear that the players have great respect For him too. I was particularly impressed by the way Jim handled the interviews, where he demonstrated that he had a clear vision and plan for what he wanted to do while in charge. When Jim's playing career comes to an end, I believe he will have a future in football Management.
  7. It's so refreshing for players and fans, that we have a club captain in Kyle who is ready and able to lead by example and guide the players in what is always a tumultuous time when a Manager/ Head Coach leaves. Experience and commonsense is always important at this time too, & Kyle has an abundance of that. Kyle's leadership is going to be very important as the team has to transition to the new coaching methods, ways, tactics & system of play. And Kyle is already doing just that.
  8. Update from the Met Office.
  9. Stuart Maynard's definitely in charge for Saturday.
  10. UK Storm warning, danger to life.
  11. Latest from weather watch. Met office has named Storm Isha that will hit the UK at the weekend. Stay safe
  12. Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid are Melbourne Wheelchair Open Champions. Congratulations to both.
  13. Devastating news for the fans of Nuneaton Borough FC withdrawing from their league and facing liquidation. The big six in the Premier League get richer by the day, yet football is in crisis with lower tier clubs struggling with their finances. There has to be changed because there's no such thing as fairness in the footy pyramid.
  14. The weather is on the change for the UK leading up to the weekend with milder air from the west. Good news for sport Batten down the hatches, strong winds forecast and possibly stormy conditions for Sunday & Monday.
  15. It's a winning start for Joe Salisbury and Heather Watson in the mixed doubles. Neil Skupski and his partner Santiago Gonzalez win to reach the third round of the Men's doubles.
  16. Lloyd Glasspool and his partner have a great win in the mixed doubles Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram win to force their way through to the third round of the men's doubles.
  17. Now that Stuart Maynard has been named as Head Coach, I think that the game on Saturday against Stockport will be a whole new ball game. We all talk about the new Gaffer bounce and it will be as true as ever on Saturday. We played one of our best games of the season at Stockport a few weeks ago and Notts were unlucky not to come away with a draw being the best side on the day. If we play on Saturday like we did in that game, for our new Gaffer, & with a big crowd behind them, I think we can pull off a win.
  18. So Cam Norrie is the last Brit in the Singles draw. He plays 12th seed Ruud in the 3rd round. It will be a tough match for Cam as his recent form hasn't been good and he's already had two tough matches to contend with to get this far I believe the best chance for Brit success will come in the men's Doubles with Salisbury and Ram who won the title in 2020. Will continue to keep you up to date with Brit results.
  19. I'm really heartened by this appointment. Stuart is one of those Head Coaches that I believe is destined for big things in the game. He comes with an excellent CV with his success at Wealdstone. Notts have a head Coach that will continue with the footballing phylosophy that has served Notts so well and attracted plenty of plaudits from the Football community. I listened to his first interview as Notts Head Coach and he came across as a determined, confident & articulate young man. I believe Notts will be in good hands with Stuart & his Coaching team.
  20. The Brits always have a fascination for the Weather, we talk about it, we discuss it or we laugh and cry about it. Here's a thread which will keep members and visitors to our community up to date about our ever changing weather. Get the latest forecast here & simply discuss it if you feel the need to. So here's the latest on the UK Weather front.
  21. Alfie Hewett into the Wheelchair Australian Open Final.
  22. Due to the way the FFP rules are structured there are three leagues in one in the Premier League. There are also two leagues in one in the Championship. At this time League 1 and League 2 are still relatively fair to all clubs in those two leagues, but if what we have seen in the top two leagues is allowed to continue, the same thing will happen with the richer clubs always at the top and the others just making up the numbers in league 1 and 2. We have seen how Wrexham are benefitting from having rich owners. Some say that it would be impossible to introduce a turnover Cap, but I don't agree. A Sensible Cap for each league would benefit all the teams, not just a few with the present system. I also believe the Premier League should filter a lot more money down the Football pyramid than they currently do. We also need to make sure home grown players are developed to the full, and our national teams remain competitive and this means more home players in the Premier League. Clubs should be encouraged to play more home grown players.
  23. The only thing I would say about this Wrexham story is that again, it is symptomatic about the current problem in our domestic football, the haves' and the have nots' That's why there should be a Cap on turnover for each of the four top tier Leagues.
