  1. i am confident that we have signed a quality keeper, he speaks very well and his previous experience is impressive. its going to be exciting watching the team play, as if we are solid at the back that must give encouragement and some freedom to the players who are attacking.
  2. i am very happy with this signing, he seems very promising and should do well for us i feel.
  3. yes, i think so. i think goalkeeper coaches dont get noticed as much as others but even then its a fair point to highlight the academy ones. they spend so much time nurturing talent. years and years with the same players from a young age until some sign schooler deals or even first year pros. i am thankful the reedtz have invested properly in all of our coaching team.
  4. this is a difficult one because i am failing to recall a memory, i have only seen england on tv but i do want to watch them live at some point. my focus mainly is on notts. i would be interested in seeing a competitive game at wembley with england taking on scotland or even ireland. i am less bothered about germany myself.
  5. he brought success to the england u21s, the squad lacked direction and fight prior to gareth southgates appointment. allowing the england manager to work with the young players, building them up and giving experience to those who are future first team stars was the best decision the english fa have done. it allowed southgate to bring in players who would have gone over looked. the biggest failure team wise is the golden generation. i disagree somewhat about we should have won, i have always felt we have overachieved team wise. it was not long ago that harry kane had no competition for his place. the midfield only had individual stars and not a team. every manager tends to have negative tactics, but southgate is proving himself to be one of the best. he did well with middlesborough too.
  6. the first one would be scary if it was to happen, thankfully firefighters have a safeguard to protect life and have to deal with it. quirky tweets which makes the tories look clueless even more so especially the last one. ????
  7. aaron nemane is a great player, but we need to make sure he is not over played because i think that causes his inconsistencies because he is tired. i dont think hes as quiet as will randall, but nemane does have spells where he is quiet on the pitch but he always offers something special. without him we would not have gained promotion from the national league. his bursts of pace and direct play can win us games because teams cant defend against his skill. thats a great thing to have.
  8. we dont want to overdo the defenders we sign but this could have been another good signing and one that may have secured the defensive additions notts needed. i am not that bothered we did not sign him, but carlisle securing it says a lot about their ambitions to attract good defenders themselves. i trust notts to ensure we sign the right players, so i dont see this as a major loss. as others have said, we dont know if any talks were held or even if a contract was offered from us.
  9. i liked ed francis, but i thought he did better when he had michael doyles guidance and after doyle left with ian burchnall he seemed to struggle to take his chances. i always felt it he would attract interest from teams higher up, gateshead are a good team for working with players who just need a little more time to get to their best. it would be great to see him stepping up and doing well.
  10. it sounds like a good idea but just like var it needs better handling, the rules on handball needs to be clearer and accidental handball either becomes a thing of the past and every contact is a foul or they work it better in. i think accidental handball is not fair to punish but the rules can make things easier to abide by.
  11. macaualay langstaff might be happy as things are, i think it will take a club that he likes and wants to play for to come in and change things. swansea is not a glamourous team. plus how safe is luke williams there? he could move, then end up being pushed out by a new manager. i hope we learn of contract news, which will give us a lot of peace of mind. even at 27, he still has the best years ahead of him. until he turns at least 32/33. if we play our cards right, he might be around when we are pushing for better times in league one. i would only sell him if the money was right.
  12. serbia looked much better in the second half, we were happy to be defensive but i would have pushed for a second just to take that pressure off that was opening up for them. i think they should be proud of how they performed, they looked much better than scotland and created some good chances when they pushed. i am very happy with the win.
  13. a lot of the modern tactics and playing styles are coming from south america right now. how they set themselves up to be less risky and you can see that with how england are setup for the euros. the movement is great at times but we need to remember the urgency. i prefer faster paced football, i think its more open.
  14. @ARLukomski please go see a doctor to make sure you are properly looked after, i would hate for something to be seriously wrong with you. it could be anxiety, maybe asthma or both. it could be something else, but we can only guess and a dr would be able to check you over. its best to be safe, i know sometimes we feel like we are wasting their time but they are paid to look after us. please ask for check up. best wishes.
  15. if the scottish players had marked and actually watched the ball, they may have defended better. they just did not keep up with the german movement and ended up making them look far superior by looking like a team who were happy to invite chances towards their own half. the germans felt so sorry for them that they gave the goal. it was quite embarrassing but disappointing because had scotland tried to keep the ball and marked better they may have made a game of it. very one sided the way it ended.
  16. hello, welcome to pon @Stephen May. i hope to see you join in with us.
  17. @Pies79 this is a great topic highlighting potential keepers, started by @ARLukomski. some speculation which has been shared inside the same topic. the club is very good at keeping potential signings on the low.
  18. i am hoping the next signing addresses the keeper situation we have, sam slocombe is injury prone and tiernan brooks is untested but i would like to see that change. i just feel we need a stronger option to force competition between the keepers. i would like another cb, along with a wingback and a central midfielder that is not like what we have. that would be 4 more signings, 27 players in the squad. giving us option to play the youngsters in the right environment. rawlinson and randall may end up being released, which would open the door. i am hoping we avoid having a squad around 24 players in size and go further a large one with depth. thoughts? gk alex bass sam slocombe tiernan brooks d kyle cameron connell rawlinson [transfer listed] adam chicksen lucien mahovo [youngster] lewis macari jacob bedeau matty platt nick tsaroulla rod mcdonald m david crowley sam austin will randall [transfer listed] matt palmer scott robertson james sanderson [youngster] aaron nemane jodi jones curtis edwards f macaulay langstaff david mcgoldrick cedwyn scott alassana jatta junior morias
  19. its great to see notts players being named in the efl team of the season. i hope we can repeat it this upcoming campaign as it shows the direction we are heading. having better players and ones who connect with the club has gone a long way to restoring the pride which those players who relegated us ruined.
  20. to fall ill and die at the age of 26, its horrible news. i hope his family find peace.
  21. i noticed tweets by alan shearer and ian wright, its a very sad day. rest in peace kevin campbell.
  22. best during my time would easily be gareth southgate based on success and restoring hope that england can do well. steve mclaren would be the worst. he just looked out of his depth and unable to inspire his team.
  23. ally mccoist showed himself up by saying it was a good challenge, then doubled down by saying he had too. there was no need to jump in with that tackle, the foot that hit the ball was not made the incident dangerous. it was the other foot, with the studs showing. the moment he flew in i thought thats a red card. i think they will regret not going out and trying to frustrate germany by holding the ball, make things tight and counter when possible. they just invited a decent grmany side to attack them and thats not a good plan.
  24. at 31, he needs to make sure this next club lasts as long as his time here because its unlikely he will get to where he hoped without gaining promotion. hes a good player, very good going forward and decent as a right back. he could make do as a cb but i never really preferred that role. his natural position was the best. i hope he finds the right club to restart his career after making 130+ appearances for us.
  25. they have no plan to attack, just defend and allow germany to have the ball. you would have thought they would at least try to stretch them. the penalty which was given for the 3 goal was a very poor challenge.
