  1. We have some of the best squads under the Reedtz era than most of the ones I grew up watching, memories and talented players. All something that wouldn't happen without them investing and changing our fortunes. I understand that everyone wants a promotion, but it should not come at the cost of blaming the best hands we have had in years, no matter how grim things can be at times.

A lot of the issues some fans have is that they can't wait, but when we are not ready for promotion, it can come back to haunt us. I would rather show some patience and understanding that not everything will be perfect, while understanding that there is a system in place and the owners are ambitious.

The Reedtz want Notts to be around in the future and don't want to risk that by investing poorly, and when the time is right, some of these people against the Reedtz might just realise how good we have it.

  2. Firstly, winning a game 1-0 does show that Notts can manage games. The final 20 or so minutes near the end of the match might have been a lot of pressure, but I did have confidence that we could clear the ball. I would have liked to see us try to calmly get it out, instead of kicking the ball at times straight back to a Fleetwood Town player, but defensively we did deal with them.

I was pleased that the players had a chance to react to the win with us fans, as it was a hard-fought game and I do hope that this signifies a start of more consistent, based performances for the whole duration of the game, but I do acknowledge there will be off days.

  3. I believe that Martin Paterson isn’t being dishonest; rather, he’s navigating the common path many new managers tread in their efforts to win over supporters. There's a tendency to assume that fans crave transparency, and while he makes an effort, his words often trip over phrases like "I am honest" and "I have to think carefully here." Ultimately, his hesitation seems to stem from a desire not to alienate players or fans.

There are plenty of positives to take away from the performance; it was solid and certainly satisfactory enough that fans shouldn’t linger on any specific moments of the match. Notts executed their game plan to perfection, and Paterson made pivotal decisions that shifted the momentum in their favour. Although I initially found the substitution of Barry Cotter for Kellan Gordon surprising, it ultimately proved to be a stroke of genius.

  4. Valid points being shared, I do think we dropped the two points we would have gained had we made sure we were balanced in the changes that the subs coming on made. It's disappointing but at the same time promising, as I felt nervous going into the game and thought we looked a lot more like ourselves, at least in the first half. The goals we conceded are another disappointment, but their equaliser wasn't something we could have done much about. I just wished the players showed a bit more urgency to try to get a third goal, as I felt we had it, but we weren't quick enough.

Performance does seem to be getting better, but the stray passes and lack of defensive decisions, such as clearing headers, need to be worked on.

  5. Good performance from kickoff to finish; there will be things that can be improved on, but the focus on the win needs to be the main thing. When the players head into training next, they will hopefully have some pressure off their shoulders and a focus on enjoying playing can return. The first win is always a challenge; now that we have it, they have to focus on passing and continue creating chances.

I think Jodi is worth persisting with in his role; he looked good, and we need to make sure we have that type of quality out wide, as it will free him up. It needs to move forward so that we have players causing problems with their movement, but I left happy.

  6. Notts needs to regroup following that performance. I left feeling let down, and as expected, many frustrated fans voiced their opinions, and I found myself agreeing with many of their points. Our marking on set pieces often leaves much to be desired, and our tendency to pass backwards frequently leads to issues. Supporters have repeatedly pointed out that this puts us at risk. The performance was lackluster; perhaps it stems from a lack of confidence, but we can't afford to perform for only 20 minutes in a 90-minute match.

  7. Having played there before in his career, even if it was when he was younger, as an experienced player now, he should be more adapted to the role and understand that it will give him more time to have a shot on goal. There's no reason why he won't just settle in within a few more games, because he's a professional.

What I like is how he's wanting to challenge himself; he wants to be involved in the action up top, and I don't think we have ever had a better player at shielding the ball while being able to outskill any player.

At 27 years old, even with his injuries, this is the prime of his career, and he still has a lot more to offer.

  8. The club has recognized that conducting interviews has significantly contributed to restoring calm among the fan base. I truly value what Roberto Gagliardi has expressed here. Reflecting on the Newport County match, it’s clear that the recent signings have seamlessly integrated into the team.

Now is an opportune moment for the club to convey its message: we are not simply looking to add any players; we aim to secure signings that enhance our quality, seamlessly blend into the squad, and fortify our strength. I remain content to withhold my concerns for now, but I completely understand that, given Notts’ history, some fans may leap to worry before considering the situation thoughtfully.

Gagliardi will hopefully have put some of these thoughts to rest now, and we can crack on with the season.

  9. Continue to demonstrate your resilience and passion, Kimbo. I might not know you personally, but I am aware of who you are, and I wish you all the best with your treatment. The Notts community has your back! I hope to see future updates as you continue your GoFundMe page.

  10. He could be getting some vital experience in our pre-season, with just a week before we play Alfreton Town. Will the club be able to find a suitable number one before the German tour? I am sure they have a list of keepers, and I do like seeing young prospects given a chance. Attracting interest from Palace and Forest suggests he's got character and something special; I just hope we can bring it out more.

  11. I wished I could make it, but with work and the three games, I would have to take holidays at work, and they wouldn't grant them in time for me to confirm this. @liampie did ask very early, but even then I have to give several months notice for things like this. It's a shame because the guide makes it seem even more fun than when Notts confirmed the mini tour in Germany. One day I will get to watch Notts and drink German beer, whilst watching us outside of the United Kingdom, of course!

All the best to those travelling!

  12. Just seen @ARLukomski mention that its been mentioned the fee was around £450,000 which is still relatively low for someone who has proved himself to be a good League Two keeper. His time at AFC Wimbledon showed that we did some smart recruitment by signing Alex Bass orignally and it is a shame to see him leave so early into his spell at Meadow Lane.

From his perspective, he's still of the age where he could play much higher and will be coming into his prime. I am saddened, disappointed but I hope Notts brings in a solid replacement. Bass will be very difficult to do better than, Peterborough fans should be delighted with the signing.

  13. Well, he said all the right things, he seemed very honest and open. Willing to learn and appreciate feedback, the key thing was his desire to learn and improve. So many head coaches and managers get stuck within their system and refuse to adapt. One of the faults about Stuart Maynard was his tactical changes and inability to turn games around, with little sign of improvement during his tenure. Obviously, fans will still be reserved, but I hope more come to realise that he wants to earn their trust and he's willing to work for it.

  14. The board has made its call and appointed someone who they hope can get us promoted; I don't know much about Martin Paterson as a coach or manager. I only vaguely know him as a player, and I just hope he has that aggression to win and can get the players wanting to put an extra 20 to 30% into their performances. Paterson has been given a good opportunity to come in and guide Notts, so fingers crossed he will do just that.

  15. It's good that he recognizes the project and knows what Notts are all about, players like Ollie Norburn thrive in front of passionate fans, and I really hope we can get behind him. There are concerns about his injury history, but we are preparing to focus on this, and I think there are enough midfielders for this not to be that worrying. It's more promising if he can settle early and make a big impact. No doubt League One teams would have been interested, so it does feel like a coup for us.

  16. It does look like a promising signing, I think the midfield is somewhere we can afford to sign a loan player because we are quite blessed with the options we already have. It might be difficult for us to get someone a little different, or with a better approach to taking on players. I don't think he will compare to George Abbott, he'll be his own player. If Tom Iorpenda can get into goal positions, or help create goals with assists, then he will be a big coup for us.

  17. Nick Tsaroulla is a very technical player who always gives his all. The goal clearly meant a lot to him, as it was his first in new colours and one he will always remember. We have a great player in him, and if he can score a few more goals before the season ends, I think it would benefit Notts. Stuart Maynard has options with Tsaroulla's position, but Tsaroulla is someone I would frequently choose.

  18. The result is a good boost. I didn't realise that it's four back-to-back away wins. I am losing track a little, but our away form has been much better this season. At home, we are a fortress backed by our exceptional matchday support. We managed to get through the injuries and difficult performances, so it's good to have a bit more luck and better outcomes with our games.

  19. This could be a very good signing. We need to commit to playing him and afford him time. With Junior Morias back, though I doubt Morias would feature, but in principle, they could be two hellraisers in terms of giving defenders a nightmare. We have seen the Jatta and Didzy partnership flourish, and if Mai Traore needs time, I don't see why we wouldn't give Morias another chance but in more games, especially against teams we are coping with. It would rest some of the players during a backlogged run of fixtures if JM can return to match fitness in time.

  20. It was a difficult match, against a home team who has a large amount of quality above our level within it. I am proud of how Notts played and led the game, coming back after the opener from Peterborough could have easily destroyed our morale and made things difficult to go on from there. Yes, we lost and changes to the team didn't help matters but again, we did well and all the players put in effort. They deserve the credit which went into the performance, so no negatives from me.

  21. It's a good game to be playing, the insight to see how we have come since the pre-season. I know those games mean little, and it's all about fitness, but it does give some indication. We have a good side, and it will be good to see how we compare against a top League One team. Peterborough United might be the favourites, but in cup games you can't underestimate anyone and I think to a certain degree the pressure will be on them being at home.

Our crowd going and making the usual noise will be of great encouragement, and I am very much looking forward to seeing how the game does unfold. I place my trust in Stuart Maynard!

  22. I am very impressed with the progress. This season, we do seem to be putting more focus towards giving youngsters minutes, but this game for the 18s is a massive chance for them to showcase their ability. Win or lose, they are doing a fantastic job, and it would be great to see them get one over Fulham, but I wouldn't want to add any pressure or expectations. I just encourage them to enjoy it.

  23. Martin Allen was a good manager with many funny moments during his time at Notts. I will be interested in the live podcast event for sure. I will have to check my diary and make plans to stay at my folks' place. When Allen tells stories, you can guarantee that he will have some very funny ones. Some fans thought his character was just an act to distract, but he's actually a very amusing person. So, I will enjoy looking back on the earlier years of my Notts support.
