We played very well, even though we only won 1-0, and Harrogate worked hard to limit our chances. It was a great moment when we scored a brilliant team goal, thanks to Tsaroulla and Jatta. I found the match entertaining, and Harrogate clearly weren't going to settle for a draw or a loss, so fair play to them as well. Nick Tsaroulla performed exceptionally well.

We need to get Dan Crowley more involved further up the pitch. He has the ability to make things happen, but I thought he was quite quiet yesterday. Even Matt Palmer seemed a bit slow to start, which is usual for him, but Barrow make it difficult. They are a compact team when needed and quick to break. I thought they were excellent, even after Notts took control of the game. A point seems fair, considering we nearly lost.
-
It's great to see someone unexpected scoring the winning goal, especially in such an important match. I agree that his height makes him a natural target. With players like Jatta as well, it forces the opposition to think carefully about who to mark.
The joy on Matty Platt's face after scoring, along with his celebration with Jacob Bedeau, was absolutely brilliant.
-
You have to balance good performances with less-than-perfect ones when aiming for promotion. Who cares what purists think? Similarly, who worries about winning ugly when results like this take some pressure off the team?
I believe we did everything we could to secure the result. We will need to rely on the defence to handle threats strongly, and when we can’t, thankfully Alex Bass is exceptional, especially at this level.
It was a good win, and it deserves only positive thoughts from us.
-
It’s a good response from the manager. I'm surprised he didn’t mention the officials or some of the tackles made by the AFC Wimbledon players.
Asking for protection in interviews can get quite dull if it happens too often. I would much rather hear about the preparation that went into the match and why things worked or didn’t.
I hope Stuart Maynard can focus on the positives because, during the defeats, his responses were pretty typical.
-
We need to give players time. If they are struggling and need support, we can only help them by being patient.
Cedwyn Scott opening up is a big deal; not many players do that in football. I hope he’s okay. Depression is something we, as a fan base, should support. It's important not just for the players, but for our friends too.
-
It’s good to hear Matt Palmer’s thoughts ahead of the game. However, I don’t think the interviewer needed to mention the playoff final so much. That is in the past.
The focus should be on a typical League Two game, even if it’s a derby against Chesterfield. It’s great to hear about the playoff final, but from the question point of view, it’s all hype. This only leads to some fans having higher expectations.
We need to take it as it comes, see how both teams prepare, and just try to get a good result away from home.

The Pride of Nottingham is clearly a labour of love for you, gaffer. It’s great to see the Faces of PON. These pictures are absolutely stunning! I hope the fans who feature really see how much Notts means to you and enjoy seeing themselves captured sharing their passion for the club. The photo of the guy holding what I assume to be his child is a great capture!

Stuart Maynard is doing everything he can to win over those who are still not behind him. More fans seem to be supporting him, and we are in a good position thanks to his guidance. His coaching and training are getting the best out of this squad.
I am glad the team managed to close down and prevent Carlisle from scoring. It shows we can make changes and still cope with the momentum swinging in favour of the opposition team.
-
We were a bit fortunate in the second half, but Alex Bass was brilliant in goal. Defensively, we looked strong, though there were a few moments when Carlisle managed to get a shot off. I thought they were quite poor up front and at the back, but their midfield wasn't an issue. I'm proud to see us hold on to the lead we worked hard for, and to get a clean sheet as well.
-
I can’t fault the outcome. Yes, the first half could have been better, but it could have been worse. Their goal was a fluke with how it landed. I don’t have any issue leaving with a point, as Notts improved in the second half, and that’s typical of football at this level. If we want to get promoted, we need to be patient and avoid moaning. We should get back to winning ways. Make a point, but there’s no need to be negative.
-
Notts fought hard, and we need to remember that the changes we made had an impact. The lads who went off had tried their best and were exhausted. We needed that effort, and the point is a good one despite the chances we had. I have no complaints about the draw. I know some will be disappointed, and I felt that in the first half, but watching David McGoldrick and Dan Crowley put in good performances, and then seeing the changes in the second half push for the draw, showed real spirit!
-
When I looked at the two squads, I thought Burton would have been more in control of the game. Listening to the match on the radio, it sounded like our squad was up against it at times. You see the number of young players starting, and you can see this is their chance to show what they can do. I am delighted for all five of the academy players, but for Kameron Muir to make his senior debut at the age of 15 and become the youngest Notts player ever, that is special. I hope they can take this performance and use it to get more opportunities in the first team in the future.
-
It’s great that you’re doing this more often, mate. You do a fantastic job for Notts fans, and this is a brilliant set of photos. The Faces of PON is back, and the gaffer is doing a terrific job! Great to see, @Chris.
-
It was a frustrating game because of the officials, but I credit Gillingham for getting the result despite all our pressure and efforts. I hope they can see how unfortunate we were and how well we played. Yes, Gillingham are decent defensively, but it was their goal and their keeper who saved them many times. I thought Notts were the better team for the most part. The stats show we were good on the ball but perhaps not our best when it came to being clinical. It's the officials who frustrate me, not Gillingham. They came well-supported and must have left happy.
-
The squad is looking good. Maynard keeps mentioning the depth, and we do have that. I am not too concerned about players being injured while we are playing well. They will just be a boost when they are ready. We don’t need to worry so much about that. Just focus on the form and keeping Meadow Lane a fortress. It would be great to continue our impressive start against Gillingham tomorrow.
-
Quality player! I'm delighted to see him thriving and fully enjoying life at Notts. I hope his words are a bit of comfort to those who worry about him being sold or leaving. I prefer not to concentrate on that. I wait for it to happen because it’s out of my control. What I do is see the improvements such a good player brings to the team. Dan Crowley is a great talent, and seeing him play for us in League Two gives me hope that we can gain promotion to League One.
-
It’s nice to read and understand more about Gillingham. Their fans have given a good account. It’s interesting to read the comments about their former managers. We know what it’s like to go through them, but Gillingham are a very good League Two team. For me, this will be the hardest game since our opening game against Tranmere Rovers. The Gills have a good squad who could cause us trouble.
-
I think we have relied on individual players for creativity in the past, but this squad addresses that. Cal Roberts, Dan Crowley, Jodi Jones, and David McGoldrick (Didzy especially last season during the poor form) have all been key, but it can burn players out. Now, it’s about playing the right way, and the praise for how well Notts are playing is well-deserved. I like that Stall isn’t getting carried away, because that’s important, and sensible fans won’t either. We have to see what Gillingham brings, but as I keep saying, the signs are positive, and the depth we have is filled with players with different qualities.
-
Jodi Jones had a significant impact on the performance. When we went two down, he became motivated to get us back into the game. I agree with Liam - Robbie Cundy perhaps shouldn’t have started, but I could see what Stuart Maynard was thinking. Changing the formation helped bring us more into the game. David McGoldrick and Jatta up top looked impressive.
-
Bromley did well. They deserve credit for picking up on our poor start and taking the lead. It must be frustrating for them, as it seems they often give the lead away. At 2-0, you don’t have to work as hard, but effort needs to be made to kill off the game. I felt surprised that they didn’t try harder to stop momentum. To a degree, they kept playing, and this came to our benefit. No idea why the Bromley player thought it was wise to foul Jodi Jones, but his decision to stay on the pitch and not go off for treatment was a wise decision. I thought the attacking display by Notts was superb. Even Bromley at times looked dangerous. I am very proud of the way we came back into the match. Stuart Maynard made smart changes, which did help change the way the game was being played.
-
There were some “here we go” and moans amongst the support where I sat. I get it, but I wish fans would allow the game to unfold further before they start. In the first 6 minutes, Bromley caught us and made the most of knowing their pitch. They deserved it, and Notts did struggle, but I don’t think we should be harsh. The pitch looked like it had barely been watered, and on a pitch where the ball isn’t gliding off, you have to be more skilful with your control. It didn’t take long for Notts to show signs of wanting it more. It was a good match, and the comeback was exceptionally well taken. Notts deserved all 4 goals, but Bromley can feel unlucky that their strategy fell short so early in the game.
-
See, this is about Jodi Jones. He always strives to be better, he's not content with what he does, and it's this drive that pushes him. He says that he wants to get more goals, then goes and scores twice! He's a brilliant talent, a player that wants to do well for the club and has a mission which is to focus on helping us secure a finish in the top half. It's not just said for the sake of it, Jodi means it.
-
I never doubted he would extend his deal. I understand how some fans feel it doesn’t mean much, but it does. There’s heaps of positivity oozing out of what Jodi says. It’s a sign of his commitment, enjoyment of football, and focus on earning Notts another promotion. Players who experience this usually have the drive to go again when they are of the quality we see in Jodi. The Reedtz brothers need to take credit for some of this, along with Stuart Maynard, who has noticed he’s far better in his natural position. Jodi has been quality so far this season, and I hope it continues. I am sure it will with the attitude and focus he shows. Proud that he’s a Notts County player!
Match Report: Alassana Jatta’s Early Goal Not Enough as Doncaster Equalise
in Match Reports
The game should have ended in our favour. Without Alex Bass, this might not have been the case, and I think defensively we hung on at times. I thought Doncaster looked far more organised this time around, but they didn't really play all that well. Notts did in spells, but failed to see out the game after a very good first half. Alassana Jatta's strike was brilliant. It's a shame we didn't create more chances, but we played well, just lacked at the crucial end, but it wasn't due to effort.
