  1. We have a great set of staff, from the groundsmen, coaches, kit manager, stewards, office staff/managers that are entrusted to carry out their duties and perform them in a way that does make the club feel hole again. There's going to be people who do a lot of good, who might go unnoitced such as the grounds staff, not only on the Meadow Lane playing surface but all that goes into the training ground etc. These bonds are only growing stronger, even though some do leave for pastures new. We are still holding a lot of talented people that remain to continue making a difference. At our level our coaching team looks huge, but for me it's money well spent. I know it's becoming common in League Two, but we had a full setup long before this and when we were in the National League. The club is pushing forward, and when the 'lack of ambition' is thrown around, I honestly think our progress shows we aren't just settling on one or two good seasons, but actively building to push on.
  2. When it came to discussing my thoughts on keeping him, I swayed more to offering him a one-year-deal. I wasn't that bothered at first, because I felt we needed someone younger for League One, but he really impressed me. I do also wonder if I was somewhat swayed by his sendings off, as I found some of his yellow cards to be silly and I don't like that in players. However, I think he became a much vital part in the squad and for me he was the 2nd best player when it came to the playoff final. His form towards the end, and in the playoffs formed the experience the midfield needed to overcome them. I wish Ollie Norburn all the best with his career, and the next step in that. If he somehow came across this message, I would add that his passion, honestly and focus on being the best that he can be came across strong. There's no question why he caught on as a fan favourite. As players come who spend a single season, I would class him as an icon and believe he's earned it.
  3. I know a Notts fan, who's father made various wooden flower boxes in various shapes. Unfortunately, he got it with a cease and desist letter despite not using the club's logo. It was black and white striped, but some fans digitally printed one and would attach it, which I think is saddening to blame the crafts man for. They can be beautiful for the garden. I have a concrete painted Notts logo that a friend got me from Skegness many years ago. His wife painted it. I will take a picture of it sometime (that is naughty of the seller on East Gate market). Myabe, but that's just where I fell. I thought the tide would fix it. 🤣
  4. It shows in one picture just how much support and potential Notts has, provided we keep working on establishing a secure future proof club then things like this should only become the norm. I don't mean every season, but there's no reason why we can't enjoy a promotion more often, even if it comes with the setback of finding life harder in the Championship, or League One in our current case. Even though I wasn't present, I felt proud and encouraged especially for the level headed fans who didn't get on the players backs or Paterson's during challenging spells last season. It shows unit as one, good things can come and even if promotion wasn't gained this past campaign, most will see the progress that it would be nearer the corner next time than it would be to fall short or drift off. Most who are hesitant may simply be concerned about football's unpredictability. However, well-run clubs often thrive, especially with the solid support we have.
  5. VAR really should have been used across all of the playoffs, I would say this even if our outcome had changed. I think all of the EFL should have VAR, but the rules and use of it needs to be better implemented. Checks shouldn't take a long time; they should be effective and prompt. The issue is the referee has to check for his thoughts, despite him having relayed the findings before hand prior to him checking the big screen. It could massive reduce stupid decisions such as Nick Tsaroulla being carded for diving when he was fouled, whilst ensuring elbows and pushing is limited because players won't try it if they know they'll get caught. A professional league shouldn't be treated any different, and technology shouldn't be reserved for the highest league. I get the negatives, it can be poorly handled but I think used right it would be of huge benefit.
  6. One negative of my seaside break was how stuffy and humid it felt inside the caravan we stayed in even with the windows and doors open. However, we coped but seem to be struggling back home. I have a small fan above my head, and a tower one in the corner of my bedroom. It feels far more humid, even though it looks mirky outside and as if it is going to rain. It's starting to make me feel tired. I wished we could get consistent weather that doesn't change so suddenly.
  7. I think patience and support will be key, there's some big teams already in League One and combine them with the likes of Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday, even with their current situation they are bound to be a diffcult. Whilst we could struggle or carry on from last season, I just want Notts to be prepared and settled before we start jumping to higher expectations. I think we'll do alright, but there's never anything given for sure and I think our support as always will be one of the biggest factors. Some fans may think we should aim for promotion, I think we need to walk before attempting to run. Luton Town, Blackpool, MK Dons, Bradford City in the past have all suffered from not being prepared to make the next shift after gaining promotion to their highest level or even in many, many seasons. Notts will always have that vibe of decline to me, that I recall from the 90s and 00s and after, which I fully appreciate the transformation we have made under Reedtz brothers. It's amazing how they haven't 'patched' the club but given us true structure, and I firmly believe with them at the helm we can navigate the leagues but we may need to bide our time.
  8. The migration has now been completed, and the site is currently undergoing a maintenance phase to ensure everything is running as it should. Please allow up to 48 hours before reporting any issues, as they may be related to the recent changes. If problems still persist after this period, please do let me know.
  9. Migration to the new server should take place today. I am awaiting further news but I will update you all as I learn what's happening. Tomorrow will hopefully be the first day moving forward constructively, with a return to regular content in terms of articles.
  10. We are preparing to migrate to a new server, one that will better meet the site’s growing demands and further improve overall performance. This process is still in its early stages, but I will continue to monitor progress and provide updates via the service status page. The move will place us on a more modern dedicated server, offering improved capability to support the site’s requirements. Enhancing page loading times and handling periods of high demand are key priorities. For further updates, please visit: status.prideofnottingham.co.uk
  11. That's not the point, the cocern about injuries for any player is something we have to ensure we can cope from but of Cal is to play as a wing back his past injuries only increases when we already have concerns about Jodi (amongst others). This doesn't mean any player requires cotton wool, it just means we need to be smart and protect them to the best of our ability. Roberts re-joins us with a much stronger squad, so I doubt we will be dependant on him or as a means to drag results through but any player can suffer setbacks, and when you have a squad that has a fair amount of serious injuries you do need to valuate it when building a squad. Two seasons ago, our season was derailed with the loss of Matt Palmer, previous to that certain injuries hindered us and it wasn't that long ago fans feared Roberts wouldn't be able to continue playing due to a nasty injury. I was gutted to see him leave, but I felt it was the right time to cash in. I hope he picks up from last season, and slots straight back into the squad. Yet, I do have real concerns about potential injuries, which is why I feel disappointed Keanan Bennetts is leaving because I felt he was growing. Roberts and Bennetts would primarily cover the wide areas for me, what with Jodi and Nick Tsaroulla.
  12. We need to be careful with Cal, but I am delighted he's back. I just hope that we don't over use him, as we did rely on him Iike a get out of jail free card when he was last here. Not denying his talent, but I want to ensure we avoid injuries that become set backs. Some fans already complain we have a injury prone squad, but with care and proper cover, Cal could be such an influential part of establishing ourselves in League One.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if it's to cover Matty Platt, he can play across the back but his defensive ability is very good. He's always impressed me, and I think it's good that he can slot in anywhere. Yet, Martin Paterson might be thinking about how we can adapt to positions against more tougher teams. It's a fantastic signing, very happy with the recruitment. He should be a strong contender for signing if the season if we can figure out his best position.
  14. I caught about 20 minutes of it the other night, and I was amazed how much the actor looked like Gareth Southgate. I found it interesting that England stats suggested we took penalties the quickiest and Germany the slowest. All those years felt like a curse when a little more time might have helped. It was also interesting to see the team bonding drils that they would do, which must have helped prepare them to perform more as a team on the pitch.
  15. There's players who have performed well against us, that I would hope is on the club radar and that we might have a serious chance of signing them. Bristol Rovers Joel Senior impressed me in both legs: he works hard and covers a lot of ground. However, he plays as a wing back and would we really need to sign someone for a fee in this area? Malcolm Ebiowei would be on my radar and regular football might be enough to tempt him, though I think other league One teams will be interested in him. Brandon Williams and Jordan Thorniley could be good additions, Williams is likely to end up with a Championship club. Dan Potts could provide us with valuable experience. These are a few players that I would be looking around, some might not be likely but you never know. We are attracting good attendances and could build for a push to the Championship.
  16. As much as I love Cal Roberts, we need to find players who are as good as him but who are not injury prone. There's a lot of interest around him which various places are picking up on. I heard before the season ended that he was attracting interest from a League One club that we might not be happy if he signed for. Rumours are nothing until the manager, or club acknowledges them. My personal stance is I wouldn't be against him coming back, but he needs to fit our system and we need to have depth for injuries. Him and Jodi in League One could have a hard time staying fit if teams decide to target them.
  17. I am very sorry that I am wishing you a belated birthday, @Michael D Pie.. I hope you had a great birthday, and enjoyed/ing your vacation. I have seen some of the pictures you shared and they look amazing. I hope you managed to get to watch Notts too. There’s a good present for you.
  18. Harry Maquire shouldn't be in the national team, there's better unpicked defenders. Cole Palmer should 100% be going, I think Jack Grealish did excellent with Everton and can feel unlucky not to have been selected. There's always going to be players dropped or overlooked, what is refreshing is the fact that players don't see to be getting chosen due to the club a player represents or because the player has a reputiable name. The only concern I have is Jordan Henderson, I have never rated him and we don't need a player just because they have experience. His lack of playing time is a concern. I'd much rather we take someone injury prone that is a capable player because it's less of a risk that the position won't be just a bench warmer. If he captains England, even in a vice captaincy role I would be further disappointed. That said, I am happy because I would hope it makes those who have not been named peform even better. Palmer can't do much more; he's a bright spark in an average Chelsea and a real joy to watch. I would say it seems more "team focused" than individual stars to be relyed on if performances are not good.
  19. Jodi looked bright the moment the game kicked off, and he was performing at his best. He earned my vote, but I think Ollie Norburn was a close second, followed by Nick Tsaroulla, Lucas Ness and Scott Robertson. Excellent team performance, the lads showed today they can win when it matters.
  20. Good to see so many different Man of the Matches, it's also interesting to see how they compare and who is at the upper end. I am pleased for everyone, but especially for Tom Iorpenda.
  21. You have let the cat out of the bag there, @Michael D Pie. with regards to your birthday. Though, someone once told me all the best people are born in May and now I am more inclined to believe it. Thank you for taking the time to wish me a happy birthday. Time does fly by very quickly, but it's important we make the most of it. = )
  22. It impressed me to see 13k sold, I am sure the numbers will continue to climb. It could be worse, Salford City are attracting funny comments on banter pages and sites where multiple fan bases discuss football. While I do chuckle. I do feel it is unfair because despite them having played League One before, they are still a small club. I hope any unsold tickets are offered closer to the time they are offered to schools in both areas.
  23. The Match worn shirt I am told would be about £50-60, but both shirts are pretty much as I said open to pricing from the potential buyer. In the future, it might be worth more, as for the other shirt. I was told very similar, that it would need to be someone who really wants it that would pay above it. I have seen shirts sold for £100-150, usually with people more over the odds to get this because they want the shirt for their own collection or it's a reputable player. Nothing against Matt Tootle, I loved his time at Notts but a lot of fans blow hot and cold towards him. I believe the white shirt worn by Jon Stead in the match against Aston Villa sold for a considerable amount. I know when Notts have run an auction for signed shirts, that they tend to be the only way to gain more value from people. Matt Tootle may be interested in the shirt, but it's worth hanging onto.
  24. I have seen Salford play against Notts, they push to control the game and try to keep the play 'wide'. When Notts has the ball, they pull ranks and put bodies around the ball. It's disruptive football, and doesn't suit our style of play. It's constant pressure, where they look to break with pace and they have a lot of players who can cause us headaches. Defensively, I don't think they are as weak as some think, but I certainly believe two strikers could cause Matty Young some problems. Not that he isn't a decent keeper, because he is but as a young squad player he must have some nerves and any of the three strikers we have could put the fear of god into him, but I think Alassana Jatta would benefit from someone to work off. Someone who can help him advance or simply assist in obtaining markers. I wouldn't want Notts to be defensive; against Chesterfield we struggled and it was Aaron Nemane who forced us out of our own half. It's important we go play, rather than rely on putting away a sigle chance or poaching the game.
