  1. Would be a more typical radar signing. Strong youth background, proven himself in leagues below, similar to Nemane, Francis
  2. Think I've done more running in a Notts shirt when I'm late for the bus than this pretender did during his 13 (?!) appearances
  3. I saw a quote from their manager describing KC as 'quick'. I like Cameron as a player, but quick? Don't think so.
  4. Seemed a bit inevitable in the end. Still early in pre-season though, and allows us to identify a replacement if there is to be one. Incredible two years from Macca in the black and white and will always be fondly remembered. You have to be a good player to get that goal return, no matter the chances created, you have to be in the correct position and apply the finish. Will be interesting to see how he gets along at Millwall, who are not exactly renowned for creating many opportunities. Seems a bit daft to make him captain and apparently p*ss of Cameron, for him to be leaving a couple of weeks later. Who's the new captain then? Matty Palmer - seems a bit on the quiet side.
  5. Just been announced. Weird one. Look extremely raw in pre-season and cup games. Could've seen him maybe being a squad player this season, but 100% nowhere near a starting place. Off to Norwich for an undisclosed fee.
  6. Very strange from Notts. We brought in Stone whereas we would've been better off having Tiernan in there, especially when or season had been over for weeks before the end.
  7. His use of the work 'undeniable' is very odd. Surely every soft skill is deniable. Anyway, Cameron has been a great player for us. His leadership in that playoff final, knowing how important it was to get the penalties in front of our fans. He's a good defender, but has been part of a defence that conceded so many. Don't think he was the main culprit for this, but not sure he counteracted it either. Change of captain was likely due to him not being a starter. It's fair, he wants to play football..all the best to him in sweaty sock land
  8. Wouldn't thank him for it but I wouldn't be complaining about it either. You'd hear worse from the stands.
  9. Not a massive fan on the gray/ fading to black. Will wait to see what the away kit is like
  10. Behave. Lad is barely 21 years old and whilst not a fantastic gesture to make, it's hardly comparable with other things kids see and interact with on a daily basis.
  11. Agree Millwall isn't a particularly attractive club. Having said that, Millwall are a club that bounce between the Champ and L1. Pretty much every Notts fan would take that as the status quo for Notts. From a Notts' perspective, you don't really care on the identity of the bidding club, only the figure. 1 million + would be enough, for me.
  12. Alex Paulsen is, according to media outlets, about to sign for Bournemouth from Wellington Phoenix, approx. 1 mil fee. Apparently Bournemouth will allow him to leave on a loan for a season. Would doubt that would be to a L2 club, but you never know.
  13. Our goalkeeping recruitment has been pretty dire recently. The only notable exception being Patterson, but that's 2 1/2 years ago. Stone: Not good enough. Luca-Ashby Hammond: Didn't stand out against Stone and Slocombe. Archie Mair: Penalty heroics aside, never broke into the team. Jaros: Never impressed. Luke Steele: He was dire. Luke Pilling: Never up to standard. That's a hit rate of 1 in 7. Given that Patterson came in as a short-term loan, even that had an air of fluke about how we found him...so you could say it was 0 in 6. With that track record on keepers - another risky bet might not be the best option.
  14. I like Baldwin. Great pace, good on the ball, an eye for a pass. Down-side being his mistakes; slippy mcslipperson, wayward passes into the middle of midfield, big risk taking with no reward. Still relatively young and those mistakes could have been ironed out. Assume he was offered a more squad role than guaranteed starter, with wages to reflect that. Fair enough all round if he wants to be playing every week.
  15. Agreed. This is the most frustrating part of SMs tenure for me. It seemed LW had a handle on our defensive frailties, and by that I mean he knew all about them and focussed on attacking or at least keeping the ball and not allowing the opposition to attack us too much. That seemed to be the high level plan, with varying success. SM seems to try and sit back, which inevitably leads to failure as our defence is dog toffee. This essentially is creating stress in the weakest part of our structure and being repeatedly surprised when it buckles.
  16. ??!! Luke Williams is the reason we have a L2 team to support next season and not a National League team. Let it be clear; if the team performed for LW like they have for SM, we'd be back in the pit of misery next season.
  17. Was he? Didn't seem injured to me. Bostock was the wrong sub to bring on, lost the midfield from that point. McGoldrick didn't look fit. I'm sorry, you can fanboy for SM all you like, but 1 single point at home does not constitute 'a good game for Stuart'.
  18. The overwhelming feeling is that we are just woeful at defending. The slightest bit of pressure almost guarantees the opposition a goal. Substitutions almost cost us the game. Energy that Austin brings completely lost when Bostock was brought on. Taking your best defender off and bringing on Warner is baffling. The kids on twitter proclaimed him to be the next van Dijk, however the more I see him the worse he becomes. Not a clue how to position himself defensively. Jatta off was another strange sub.
  19. This really is the battle of the terrible. Somehow, Bradford are winning that battle so far and showing themselves to be even worse than we are. Cameron and Warner winning the mini battle of the terrible for Notts so far. They're both begging to gift a goal away.
  20. It was a really good performance to make the form team in the league look extremely below par. Very daring by Stewart Maynard to switch formations and keeper in the same game. I'm sure, to coin a Paul Mace phrase, the social media numpties, have now 180'd quicker than Jodi Jones. Keeper looked excellent with his feet and distribution on the whole. Made the correct decision time and time again, could tell her was trusted by the defence too. However, had a couple of dodgy moments with the ball in hand. I think that's what we'll have to settle for with him, brilliant on the deck, always a mistake in him though. Jodi Jones is just different class. He's far beyond L2 level. Robertson fantastic last night. Dominated the midfield by covering every blade and being really effective with the ball at his feet. Cameron's performance was concerning. Most of Newport's danger moments came from his side. The amount of time attackers could run in behind him was evident, plus his slow reaction time. Lucky Baldwin covered for him for the most part. He was however, much more dominant in the air.
  21. Extremely poor. Stone isn't the keeper we need. All this talk about defending as a unit, but the back 3 plus keeper can't clear basic crosses to the back stick. Mcgoldrick was poor again. Not sure how his second touch at times is so poor. Langstaff poor. Some very good chances he squandered. Bostock looks lost and / or knackered. Nemane is such a strange footballer. He has all the skills and attributes, but his decision making is shocking. It's easier to say who I thought had a decent game; Baldwin, Jones and Robertson.
