  1. That was a disgusting first half performance. They were all terrible. Especially **** are that new right back, Barnett, Reeves, Rodrigues, Enzio and Knowles. My patience is wearing thin.
  2. Maybe not, but let's take our last 3 results: 0-0 to Stockport - lucky to draw 0-1 to Chesterfield - correct result (they didn't create anything else and neither did we) 0-1 to us v Kings Lynn - lucky to get anything, never mind a win. That's 4 points in 3 games, but in reality without a large slice of lady luck, it should have been only 1 point or maybe 0. In all 3 games we have created next to nothing. The only goal we scored was out of nowhere from Jake Reeves and he won't be producing them very often. The only reason our defence stats look good is because we got lucky v Stockport and KL.
  3. Yeah I checked their goal again and it's miles onside.
  4. I don't want to take anything away from our performance because it really was a special one, however just to make a comment on the opposition: They were terrible. It was snowing and a bit cold, but you just got the feeling they weren't really up for it. A glance at the league table will probably tell you why; despite being tipped as promotion contenders, they are languishing near the bottom but unlikely to go down and probably unlikely to reach the playoffs. Even though it is still early in the season, maybe they consider the season as a write-off? That's the only reason I can fathom as to why they were so bad. If I were a Daggers fan, I'd want the manager gone. Clearly he can't motivate a group of players, and who knows what (if any) instruction he was giving to them. Even in kids football, if they see a keeper a third the size of the goal, they know to start having shots and getting the ball in high. It's not rocket science, it really is quite basic. Balls into the penalty area would have caused us some problems, because there's no way Doyle would be coming out to claim them, then it essentially is a 50/50 toss up, with the ball pinging about the box. Why were they not shooting? Don't get me wrong Doyle made a couple of decent shot stopping saves, but any shot that was beyond the centre of the goal, he would start to struggle (as seen with the goal). I can't remember them even trying to have a pop? Baffling performance from them. They had one player for me who came on and knew what to do: George Saunders. Looked quite dangerous, took us on and had a couple of pops on goal. Seemed they got him in the summer from lower down the pyramid. Still only 22. Worth a look, Ardley? https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=134472
  5. I was dreading that substitution. Glad it didn't come.
  6. We concede 0.76 goals a game. Torquay 0.85. We score 1.29 goals a game. Torquay score 2.00. That suggests that no, it won't be enough.
  7. I hope we don't see another repeat of the weekends performance, because Bromley aren't Weymouth and we will be beaten if we perform like that again. I hope we go for it, but I dread a midfield consisting of JOB-Reeves-Doyle.
  8. Very, very poor. Notts playing their usual way, too slow, no creativity and no cutting edge. Miller, Enzio, Effiong and Wootton all been poor. Not as poor as Reeves however, who has been dire. Solihull the better side. Get Rodrigues on ffs.
  9. Hope the game is on as it could be our last of this season, or at least one of our last games. Chicksen is an odd one, he hasn't even been mentioned recently. Assuming Brindley is out (which is a shame because he was excellent against Torquay), I'd go with the following: Reeves' form has dropped recently and it could be a good moment to give Wolfe a start.
  10. We don't have any natural goal scorers in this team. So many times we are overplaying or missing big chances. I've said it before and I'll say it again: If Knowles is a goal scorer then either use him or send him back and get another one in who will actually play.
  11. Covid 1 Torquay 0 Notts 0 Called off on Friday evening or Satruday morning due to suspected Covid case in Torquay's camp. Notts ask all of the other 19 clubs they have postponements with and none can be bothered playing, all of them already wishing for furlough now the government handouts have stopped. NL is suspended on the Sunday.
  12. There isn't a great deal to say after that. Notts absolutely dominated the second half, men against boys. It was men who couldn't finish, however. What you'd say of this squad is that it misses a poacher like Dennis and somebody to give Doyle and Reeves some competition, somebody maybe a bit more direct, a box to box type. Wolfe can't even make the subs bench. The officials were terrible, but consistently terrible. If they're giving you nothing all game, don't go down and expect it to change, Kyle. It was just one of those days where nothing really goes for you. What we learnt today? Turner will have a lot of good games, but he has the donkey within him and had another couple of go's at it today before pressing the self destruct and getting himself sent off in spectacular fashion. The officials didn't know their arse from their elbow, but even they knew that was a straight red. It didn't affect the game, as Hartlepool were a spent force in an attacking sense by that point. In fact, it probably helped.... whoever is telling Doyle to drop in to the defence so Turner can go forward and become a playmaker needs to have a word with themselves. Lacey? Yes. Rawlinson? OK. Ben Turner? Hell no. If we need a goal, Jimmy Knowles isn't good enough to be the answer. When Ardley was on about weighing up the loanees, you have to think that Graham, Knowles and Wolfe aren't pushing to start or even be on the bench in some cases. Surely we can do better even permanently or on loan? A pacey striker and a central midfielder are an absolute must, to push this team on.
  13. Hartlepool look like they've had the rest and we look slow and tired. Speed it up Notts!!!
  14. They've done well in the last 2, but when you stretch that out a bit, it's Notts that are more in form. Interesting we're good at home and they are good away. We are better in defence, they are better in attack. Shapes up for an interesting game, I'm thinking (hoping) 2-0 to Notts. COYP!
  15. The amount of Covid in the national league (in football in general actually) seems pretty damn high. They must be close to achieving herd-immunity soon?! Notts certainly have or are pretty close to it!
  16. That is as non league as it comes. Abolsute dire game devoid of any quality from either side. First touches are awful, can't pass to our own players and so many mistakes. Turner started so nervy and calamitous, could've easily given them a goal. Rawlinson not much better. Up front Wotton has the touch of a rapist, Sam even worse. Even Rodrigues had a few bad touches. We're lucky that Woking have been as bad as us. Imorovement needed. COYP.
  17. The game last night was just one of those games. We were dominant for the whole 90, played well and created lots of chances, but didn't finish any of them. Our finishing needs to improve, but as a setup and a performance, it was good. It's games like these where you miss a Dennis who will get you that one goal. Instead we brought on Knowles who didn't contribute anything of note. This is less concerning for me because although the result isn't great, the performance was solid. You play like that and you will win 9/10 games.
  18. Me too. Thought he was probably our best player technically, but then again, looking at that teamsheet, it wasn't too difficult. Can't even remember McMahon!
  19. Steve Thompson the manager still that year? That midfield is a strange one. Ian Ross - an anomaly and Jay Smith - technically there but so small and made of glass.
  20. I see that Myles Weston, ex Notts, plays for the Daggers. I wonder if he is still the same player I remember.... a fast, direct winger more than capable of beating players at ease but couldn't cross to save his life. Still a useful player for us though, he's only 32 so surprised he is down at this level, but looking at Wikipedia he has been here a while.
  21. I see little reason to change a successful line-up.
  22. The bottom line though is 3 points, and today I'll have a smile on my face and will feel much happier than I did at 2-1, that's for sure! Thanks Ruben!
  23. That was a terrible performance. It will surprise nobody that the same problems highlighted previously were all there again. Slow, boring build up that inevitably breaks down. The midfield 3 were woeful, even by recent standards. If you could have subbed all of them off, you would've. Doyle's build up play is so slow that somebodies dad who Chesterfield recruited to play up front and they called 'Denton' was picking his pocket. Embarrassing. Him and O'Brien cannot play together. O'Brien was atrocious, gave the ball away repeatedly and can't defend. Reeves was just as bad. That brings us to another problem previously highlighted: no central midfielder on the bench to bring on. Not one. We started fairly brightly. We created a bit, Roberts hit the post, Enzio curled one past the post that wasn't too far away and we looked like we could build it up. We got the goal and then..... we stopped. Stopped creating, stopped pressing, stopped everything. Our midfield was so deep they were on our centre backs toes. It was a matter of time before they scored, and score they did. Ardley needs to change the way this team are playing and the selection. As I said at HT, Chesterfield are the worst team I've seen this season. According to their commentators aswell, that was a good performance from them. Deary me. Any half decent side would've destroyed us today. As much as our tactics are **** and the football is rubbish, I couldn't bare to watch that hoofball to Tom Denton all season. To make it worse, his strike partner was even worse than Wootton. Their winger who I think normally plays RB, looked a good player and had the beating of our left hand side until Rodrigues came on and gave him something to beat. He's on-loan I think. How they let us score that 2nd, I will never know.
  24. 1-1. This is dire. No disrespect meant to Chesterfield, but they have to be the worst footballing side I've seen this season. As expected, we are making them look good and not punishing them. At the back they (Chesterfield) are all over the place, defense always about 4 foot away front our front men. Wootton again has been anonymous in the first half, any ball that goes up to him he has lost. If I were Ardley, I'd be looking at taking him off and bringing Sam on. Our midfield decided to drop right off, as if we're playing Juventus or something. We've tried a couple of times to self destruct again, Doyle both times I think, who is being overrun and we need fresh legs in that middle (we don't have any). Their right midfielder, Cropper, has Kelly-Evans' number and is beating him regularly. For the goal, DKE was daydreaming and miles off his man. Enzio was doing his usual prancing about. DKE is also on a yellow, so if Chicksen is fit, we should probably be seeing him sooner rather than later. If we lose this, against a Chesterfield side as poor as this one, I really do despair.
  25. This is my line-up. Don't know the state of McCrory and perhaps harsh to drop Brindley, but he's the only one in that back line that has a decent replacement. Out-of-form Lacey and Rawlinson only starting because the two alternatives are terrible. Doyle is only starting because there isn't an alternative (unless this Wolfe loanee fella is any good). JOB is playing there because the alternative is Enzio. I would play Thomas there but it seems he is unwell. Sam was decent the other night and got his goal. Probably doesn't warrant another start, but there isn't any alternative to an out-of-form Wootton. This line-up again highlights the lack of quality in depth of our squad. Once you look at the amount of starters that are out-of-form, there's nobody to bring in to freshen it up. Crawford we let go, Booty is injured and we let go, I would even bring Mitch Rose in at this stage! We have no winger backup whatsoever. I would have picked Shields should we have made his move permanent.
