The weak link defensively, which we all suspected, was laid bare today. Brindley, atrocious. There's nothing positive to say about that performance. Like he's playing on autopilot, with serious software defects. Stone, abysmal. What goes through your head to make a challenge outside the box with your hands in that situation, god only knows. Fitzsimmons-esque in being glued to his line for their first. Slocombe isn't be the best keeper for this level, but he's better than his supposed replacement. There were many bad performances today, but the above 2 stand out for being completely inept

Dallas has signed for L1 Barnsley. Quite a strange move for me that, both for club and player. Has had 2 or 3 very good seasons at NL level, scoring 1 in 2, but had previously failed at L2 level so there was always a question mark there. Seemed inevitable that Dallas would get another chance at the Football League, however had expected that to be at L2 level. You have to hope it goes well for him and he doesn't end up a bench warmer and out on loan in January.

Those with short memories will have forgotten that the EFL are as bad as the NL board. Consider genuine football fans? Of course not. Clubs like Salford aren't a typical / genuine football club in terms of fanbase. That's why they want to move it, because Manchester United will be at home at 3 on a Saturday, meaning nobody will come and watch Salford. Moving the game, they hope they'll get a few of the Man Utd fans before Saturday, whilst not really giving two hoots about Notts County fans. They'll know we can't retaliate, because they don't take any away fans anyway and a move would only hurt our own fans' attendance.

Dallas has consistently scored pretty much 1 in 2 at national League level, including at teams that will not create as many chances/ dominate games... Such as Weymouth and Solihull. That's a good record for anybody. Any national League team would be looking at him and going, yeah, he's gonna get 20+ goals in a season. I'm sure every NL club wants him, realistically Chessie and Oldham can afford/entice him. Would a league 2 club look at him? Of course they would. 23 year old striker, 20 a season in the league below, plenty of potential. It's not a surprise that Grimsby and money bags Wrexham-lite Gillingham are taking a look.

Many times during our 'dark years' in L2 we could barely muster 3.5k for midweek games and 4.5k for Saturday gamed. Now we'll have circa 6k season ticket holders, it really is an improvement and reflective of the work have done to better our style of play.

I don't think it was necessary the drinks selection that was the main issue. In the Kop, the issue is mainly the waiting time. You have to leave by 35 minutes and drink very quickly to have any chance of seeing the start of the second half. A secondary issue is the fact that the beer they serve you is piss-warm.

I wasn't at the game. Have seen the highlights however. Few points to mention: Mahovo wasn't great against Nuneaton. I was surprised that he continues to get the nod when the better youth performers on the night - Reynolds and Gill, were shunted to the B team. He's nowhere near ready - a loan to step 3 or lower IMO Slocombe saves 2 of those Stoke goals. Worrying. You can't play that high of a line with Cameron, Brindley and Mohovo/Chicksen. There's absolutely 0 pace there. There's a reason we struggle without Baldwin at the back and his 'recovery tackles'. We need a CB with pace, as cover across all 3 positions, or starting on the right ahead of Rawlinson. It was obvious for many fans before, and if Williams hadn't agreed, I think he may have seen 1 or 2 things against Stoke that may change his opinion.

Difficult to say. I know it may come across a bit Paul Mace, but this season will be a failure if we don't achieve promotion - as champions or via the play-offs. Should that horrific scenario happen and we don't go up, our squad will most likely to completely different the following season; ambitious, quality, young players don't want to stay in the NL forever. They would be looked back as a 'what-if' squad that were so close, but ultimately couldn't get across the line. If we go up as champions, they will be written into Notts folklore as the team that led us back into the light after years in the shadows. If you look back at some of the squads we had in L2; Steve Thompson, Jason Lee, Lawrie Dudfield, Gary Silk et al... it was amazing how on earth we survived. I think football has progressed, gotten more technical for sure, and overall the competitions are a lot better in terms of footballing quality.

Slocombe - 7.5 - Not at fault for their opener. Did his job well and made the right choice again and again. Chicksen - 7.5 - Another goal. Can't say I quite made it out in the Kop. Solid at the back and good positions going forward. Doesn't skin a man, but that isn't his forte. Cameron - 8 - Thought he was excellent. Barely a foot wrong. Baldwin - 5 - Wayward passes, making wrong choices, bad touches... it's going to happen with the role he plays. Chicksen - 7.5 - Another goal. In the right position at the right time, again. Solid at the back and good positions going forward. Doesn't skin a man, but that isn't his forte. Rawlinson - 7 - Love Rawlo. Warrior. TAR - 6 - Decent going forward, but was run ragged by their winger. Palmer - 5.5 - Gets away with 'bad' (as in below par for him) performances sometimes. Didn't get away with it here, was terrible in the first half. Improved in the second. Bostock - 6.5 - Poor in the first half. Improved considerably in the second. Rodrigues - 6 - A little bit off it tonight. Tries all the risky balls and majority didn't come off today, but didn't shy away and kept trying the balls. Think he hit the post, too. Scott - 8 - Rats around and does a lot of stuff that goes unnoticed. Scores - again. Could've been an assist - couldn't tell from the Kop. Langstaff - 8 - His goal looked superb, but again would like to see the replay. See he was attributed the fourth - not sure how much of a touch he got on that. Jones - 7.5 - Thought he was threatening again. Some questionable defensive actions, but you expect that when you have a winger in a defensive role. Austin - 7 - Good contribution off the bench. Vincent - 7.5 - Thought he was excellent off the bench. Great touches, desire.... everything you want.

I initially thought their goal came from a Baldwin error, he misses his header and allows an easy finish to their striker. Having seen the highlights, however, it's not his fault and he's effectively marking their only 2 men in the box when we have 4 'defending' in the immediate vicinity: It's a counter-attack from a corner. Bad pass from Bostock, but not one we shouldn't recover from. We do a good job in getting numbers back defending, but I think it is Palmer who should be picking up his man and Ruben (?) helping him out. Midfielders and attackers though, don't always have the 'defenders brain' and see the danger incoming. Rawlinson certainly does see it, and is indicating as much. Rodrigues is more concerned with returning to his normal position and Palmer is ball-watching: By the time the cross comes in, Ruben is too late and Palmer is massively out of position, perhaps trying to close down the pass to midfield when that's easily already covered by Bostock: The reaction by Rawlo is pure frustration at the lack of defending basics: Stick with your man and don't get attracted to the ball. Rodrigues pointlessly barely moves with his hand in the air claiming an offside where there clearly isn't one; Palmer is chasing shadows. .

We're not fantastic away but we're getting to the point in the season where games become must-win if we're serious about play-offs.

Me too, which is why I highlighted it in particular. Perhaps you were one of the company managers that increased the staff wages in line with the increase in cost of living after the Euro adoption, but from my experience that would have been the exception and not the rule. You can google the average wage is in Latvia, probably one of the lowest in the EU while the prices in shops are higher than in Western Europe. Go outside of Riga to other cities/towns like Daugavpils, and I bet you can half that wage, if not more.... 95% is simply false. 95% in 18-23 year old Uni students in the centre of Riga that will leave at the first opportunity, perhaps, but certainly not for the rest of the population, in my own experience. Considering the high amount of ethnic Russians in Riga particularly, it can never be 95% or even close to that. Latvia's a small place, granted, but most of these people aren't going to be returning. With any debate, no matter how contentious and strong your views may be, it is always well worth considering the opposite point of view, as there will always be positives and negatives to anything in life. I expected this response, because you are on one of the far extremes of the Brexit debate. The reality is that there have been many difficulties for the Eastern nations in entering the EU. The decrease or completely ceasing of previously manufactured goods, the high cost of living since adopting the Euro, especially with respect to wages, mass migration of youth to the more prosperous West.

Everything is Brexit's fault, yet no mention of Germany and Italy having being coerced into sanctions as to not threaten their reliance on Russian Gas (Germany) or their export of Gucci tack (Italy). Let's face it - Putin isn't scared of the EU's army because it's a shambles. They are grossly underfunded. The Bundeswehr is a skeleton of a force (despite just announced budget increases) and have made repeated errors recently (the current EU president contributed highly to that inadequacy). Trump even highlighted this and called them out on it - perhaps if they'd done something about it Putin wouldn't have been so bold. Besides, EU membership has hardly been fantastic for the people and economy of former Soviet states in the East, Latvia being one example. Hardly a guaranteed path to 'economic stability'. No fan of Brexit, but you have to give some kind of balance to the views presented. A child will be eaten by a Shark in South Africa and you'll somehow be able to link it to Brexit.

I'm not sure who that is but a lot of these accounts seem to have 'Greta Thunberg syndrome'; that is, they complain, moan and squeal about everything - but offer 0 solutions on anything.

Yup. Know a few people personally that are unhappy with the way the vaccines are being pushed (me too) and that's their (initial) reason for not getting one. The enforcement thereafter has then pushed them further down the rabbit hole and now they are verging on conspiracy-land, even though some of the negatives/concerns about the vaccine are true, a lot of the claims are nonsense. I know a few countries will and are trying to enforce it at workplaces. No jab = no job. That will coerce a few to get it, but not a lot. Plus, the freedoms it violates and the precedence it sets are terrible. It's a strong indication that the government can take your job if you don't sign up to something they are pushing. Vaccine today, but what tomorrow? Dangerous.

One look at David Schneider's twitter and you can see the type of account. Boring, repeated attacks on Boris Johnson with any weapon they can get hold of (Covid and Brexit the most common). I'm no fan of Boris but these type of accounts and people are generally unhelpful. You imagine David Schneider stood in the middle of a field, in the countryside, by himself, with a mask on, 'to save the NHS'.

Barnet's results have picked up recently; they've beat Torquay, Woking and Maidenhead and drawn with Boreham Wood. By no means a given that we beat them, they are not the same calamity Harry Kewell side we pasted on the opening day.

To try and get a judge on the pandemic and how it evolves it is necessary to filter out the extremes. The extreme to one-side is the anti-vaccine, 'covid doesn't exist', government conspiracy types. On the other side is the place for the hysterical; lockdown forever, social distancing forever, gross over-estimation and exaggeration of hospitalisation/death forecasts. What's happening throughout continental Europe with regards to mandating (or quasi-mandating) vaccines is abhorrent and illiberal. Unfortunately the people who consider themselves 'liberal' are the ones who are for this type of government enforcement.
