Weekly chat - Monday 30th June to Sunday 6th July
finishing up from work, one of my line managers who is a forest fan said to me we have sold our keeper and gloated that we look weak for a team wanting promotion. its been very humid, even inside work it seemed like metal could melt if it got any hotter. the day has not been all that bad, it seems to have flown by but nothing much really to add. it was very routine, and very uneventful except for the news of bass. 😥

Farewell Alex Bass: Notts County Keeper Makes Shock Move to Peterborough United
gutted to see that alex bass as left us, but its a good return for what we purchased and i do think we can find a reliable keeper to replace him. i would love for him to stay, but we are a club that needs to sell to reinvest. pressure will be on the transfer panel to bring in someone and further signings to give us the hope we need as fans to go into the season. losing important players in past seasons has held us back but there is no reason why we cant sign in quality if we work hard.

Safe Standing?
i believe its done, i think its the reason as to why we have not announced any more home games other than cardiff. if you look carefully at the picture that is in the official sites fixture list, you will see the pitch seems to have been relayed. if it has not, then its amazing how well it looks to be naturally grown as a whole instead of fixing patches because usually they stand out a bit. it makes me think the safe standing is currently in the works and will be announced soon.

Trialists at Notts
i think it was our first season back in league two, when we had a trialist who scored and did well in the games that he played. does anyone remember who it was? i think he was a defender. i do see the benefits of trying players, but i do agree they tend to be players teams overlook and are more squad or rotation bound.

Martin Paterson: A New Era Begins at Notts County
the 10 games judgement is being pushed, but i think its only right. his interview was very good. he gave a good insight into how he thinks and the winning mentality from us has been missing at times. the segments on east midlands and itv for us was interesting to see what their thoughts were. i hope fans do give him time and we can have a real go at automatics.

An interesting read...a fraudster jailed for selling fake Scottish tea
after making so much money, why did he not actually legitimise his business? surely that would have made more sense than continuing to be fake. i dont condone it, but you could forgive the hustle to a point if it meant he setup a real company that benefitted people.

New head coach Martin Paterson
i would not say i was disappointed because i know nothing about him, and i cant let that control my feelings. i had hoped we would go for someone more experienced, but i fully trust the club. i dont know why some fans are so quick to have silly reactions. i mean on social media, its the reason why i have not replied sooner because i hate it. its just the shortest, and most angriest comments. its like everyone is fighting to post the worst possible comment. i did see someone on x saying the brothers will regret it, that they refuse to put money in and that they are cheap states. personally, i think most people should be able to do well with this squad. we have a far better team than when we got relegated. though, i wished we had that strike force now, as it would help jatta. i hope martin paterson proves the doubters wrong. i mean those who are still moaning.

Auf geht's Notts - a brief guide to Germany
i decided not to go, but i am sure members and notts fans that do make the trip will find this to be useful. i wonder if @Piethagoram has noticed this.

Notts County Name Martin Paterson as Head Coach in Ambitious Club Restructure
with a bit of faith, a lot of hard work and our full support the new coaching team, with head coach martin paterson will do just fine. i am sure he will come in wanting to win games and that attitude is something we might have been missing previously. he seems to have his pulse on how burton played, and did well to keep them up as they seem destined to be relegated.

Has Luke got a new job?
i can see luke williams looking to find a stable job, he might want to take some time away from management as his time at swansea has dinted his reputation. sometimes managers need to step away, find employment and then have another go. he could very well be a manager or someone higher up than ground staff. he does have the ability to speak and influence people. those are transferable skills. if it is really him, i have nothing but respect.

Thoughts on the Goalkeeper(s) Behind Alex Bass?
i think archie mair would be a good shout, he fits the backup option. i know @Cobby mentioned on facebook that he gave heart stopping moments when he photographed some of the gateshead games. i think being at morecambe would have gave him some vital experience.

This was the day in Football History
i have never had that connection with watching the world cup or euros, not when i was younger. it was only after 2010 when i first showed real interest in football, and that was more notts. i do like seeing games like this tho, you can appreciate how things have improved and its even better when people share their memories of it. watching the highlights, brazil still have no improved that much in defence. by far the best going forward, the level of confidence is off the scale.

Purple Shirts - GBNF
the club and the online store does not always work perfectly when the demand is there for products, i had to fetch my home shirt from last season from the club shop because the site said they had sold out. what is more annoying is people buying more than they should, then sticking them on ebay for silly fees.

Weekly chat Monday 16th to Sunday 22nd June
afternoon everyone, @Piethagoram, @Robbie, @Fan of Big Tone. 👋🏻 i am currently on my break, usually i go to walk around in the city centre to find something to eat but with the warmth i have brought a pack launch. my work place provides a shaded area with benches for employees to sit and have breaks. i dont really use it but its quite nice hiding from the sun. its actually pretty nice out, just a bit too hot at times. work has been very busy, with deliveries coming in and having to sort out what is being exported or take out for deliveries. i love having a routine, but sometimes you have to change things just to make sure you dont melt or freeze depending on the weather. after works finished, i am tempted to go to one of those desert places for a treat. i hope everyone is okay and are keeping out of the heat, please remember to drink plenty.

if you had the money to get involved in owning a football club
you just inherited billions and decided to pour it into football but this is no ordinary investment, this is your dream team. how would you build your fantasy club? would you buy an established top flight side, take a punt on a lower league gem, or start fresh and form your own team from scratch? if creating your own club, what would you name it and would you lean into tradition or go bold and modern? would you rebrand an existing club with a new crest, kit, or even a redesigned stadium or respect its heritage? do you see yourself hands on in running the club day to day, or would you put a strong team of staff in place to handle operations while you steer from above? what steps would you take to win the fans over and leave a legacy that’s remembered for generations? how do you imagine all of this? if you had no budget limits, no boardroom politics and just a passion for football?

nations gold reserves
i watched a video youtube where it explained the top 10 countries with gold reserves, a method that has been the longest means of securing a countries future if there were to be a collapse in currencies. it explained that for exchange of gold, you were given a piece of paper that would guarantee the value of the gold that you had given. the earliest form of money made from paper, which i thought was pretty interesting. United States: Holds the largest gold reserves with 8,133 tonnes. Germany: Second largest holder with 3,352 tonnes. Italy: Holds 2,452 tonnes. France: Has 2,437 tonnes. Russia: Has 2,332 tonnes. the video also mentioned how canada has sold all of its reserve in favour of investing in infrastructure and businesses that bring in money for them. does it make sense to you to horde gold, so that if the financial system collapsed there is still something of value or do we live in an age where it makes no sense to stock so much gold? i thought this would be an interesting, but different type of discussion. its scary to think if something happens, the most valuable things would be gold, food and water.

Map of the day
it does make you wonder if we can unearth creatures unknown who like the deepest depths of our seas and lakes etc. i watch a video where some fisherman in japan had caught some bizarre looking fish which turned out to be rare.
