Is Winning All That Matters?
i am not sitting on the fence with writing this, but... i think there is a time and place for winning ugly, and winning is very important but so is the level and consistency of good performances. it all depends on the factors and situation, but performances wont always be deserving of winning or all that good. you have to take into account why things happen, such as if we have injuries, backlog of fixtures and performances are not great, so be it. if we are playing a team in better form, win ugly. even local games like against chesterfield and grimsby i would not mind if we were not 100% in. teams we should be doing well against, really should be good performance but winning is what gets promotions.

Weekly Chat Monday 8th to Sunday 14th September
@Michael D Pie., where you in a cage when the sharks was near? i think i would hate it, even if i was safe behind bars and a cage. i have a fear of open water, sharks and whales. just the thought of being close makes me feel locked up. it looks like you have had a great time, did you find atlantis btw? you could be mistaken as sitting on the thrown in one pic. =)

Important Lifeline Update
love reading the comments about what lifeline means to people and what good it has done, i know it was started up to help the club operate if it was ever in need of money and that it has countless times helped with that but it is nice when owners are investing, that the money can be used to improve outdated or much needed areas.

The Notts Technical Board.
i would like notts to give fans, at least season ticket holders updates on some of the inner working of the technical board. i dont think they should release sensitive information or anything opposition teams could use against us but at least some form of review as to what they are doing, looking at, working on and are implementing from what has been learned.

Montague leaves Swansea
there is no arm in talking to him and seeing if the door can be left open for a return, even if other clubs are interested knowing that you are likely to fit back in and have a reasonably safe working environment is better than going somewhere unknown. i dont want to speculate on if he will return as i really dont know, it depends on how the relationship was departed with.

Why Keeping the Squad Settled Matters More Than Gossip
i would agree that there are some areas where notts handles things well internally, i do think its likely jatta will leave in the summer but the talk has brought him back into the fold and we are better for it. i can understand being unhappy about having bids rejected, or if he has had his head turned. any player worth their salt will be ambitious but its important jatta does not ruin his reputation here.

Notts now have a proud record
its like giving a medal to someone who finishes last. we might have won all the teams in the 91 now, but in the future when newer teams come in it will mean nothing. like it does exist. it would mean more if it was recorded as the first time and year, then followed up the second or whatever time.

Matthew Dennis Ready for Gillingham Test after Player of the Month Honour
already he has proven himself to be a good signing, his confidence is growing and that plays a big part in some of the goals he has scored. i really like how he talks about the team, rather than himself. he seems quite shy, and very soft spoken but to have a player so grounded, with his ability he could go much further. i hope his form continues as he has help us no end already.

Notts now have a proud record
so the record is lost when a new team is promoted that the club has not played? what is the purpose of it then??? surely the record should stand but accredited to the season, then becomes reactivated when new numbers come in the efl. otherwise, it means very little when some obscure team is promoted from the national league which is highly unlikely for a bigger team to play. i am pleased for notts, but the record means nothing if by next season its wiped until we play the newly promoted teams if we haven't won them already. does national league games count? what about cup ties? it seems like one of those records nobody has put much thought into but love to throw about being of how difficult it is to achieve. plus when you have been in the lowest tier for so long, but have been around as long as notts you are bound to be in the running to do all 91.

Gagliardi DoF leaves
i have seen a lot of fans sharing messages on social media where they hope martin paterson makes it known that he would like to handle the recruitment, but i think the head coach can sometimes be the problem as to who comes in. look at kevin nolan and how he goes about signing his mates, that is not how to run a football club and i am more in favour of seeing notts continue their recruitment under the polices which the reedtz first introduced. that said, we should try to go back to looking the bigger picture when it comes to the recruitment. i dont think roberto gagliardi would have said to sign so many midfielders, i think this happened due to the amount of people involved in discussing incoming players. take it a step back, keep short lists and track good players. have the group based talks but when it comes down to the decision it should be the head coach and the director of football agreeing on who comes in.

Communication with Supporters
its been said a few times where the club could better treat supporters and keep information coming out, i think the media team does do a good job in most areas but at the same time they seem to miss some of the obvious things which we as fans would care about. i also dont like how certain supporters tend to be treated better, it does not matter if you fly over from italy. why does this mean the support is any more valid from those who travel to games more frequently? i am not against the italian magpies, but i dont like how they get special treatment. no supporter or group should be given special privileges over others, as its not the way to treat fans.

Gagliardi DoF leaves
what a weird appointment and decision to make so early, seems like hes paying the price for the recruitment that has come in. i hope whoever comes in next is more determined to get the right players that fit our system.

Understanding The Reedtz Vision for Notts County
brilliant article, i can understand the disappointment but i dont get why some fans have to be as negative as they are and the earliest opportunity they want to see change despite the club being ran the best it has been in years. fans wanted stuart maynard out last season, then it turned to the reedtz but we are moving forward. it might not be fast paced, but we are progressing and improving even if we are losing good players here and there. those that complain of a lack of stability, are the ones calling for the changes. i trust the reedtz brothers to see out their vision and if not, i am sure they will hand us over to someone else who might. rather than another alan hardy type owner where its all about himself.

Jacob Bedeau Praises Team Effort After Notts County Secure First Clean Sheet of the Season
the defence really did play as a team at the back, and dealt with fleetwood quite effectively. kelle roos made some good saves despite the hiccups, but those in front of him such as jacob bedeau, rod mcdonald and sonny aljofree all played a huge role in staying tight when it mattered, but even the midfield joined in with protecting the goa. provided we keep the chances on goal few, there is no harm in just clearing the ball.

Martin Paterson Praises Winning Mentality as Notts Beat Fleetwood Town
i do really like how martin paterson reads games and i think with time his squad selections will get better, especially with players returning. i try not to overthink what he says in post match interviews, because i have already made my mind up and i may agree or disagree on points. i do respect where the head coach comes from, i do hope in time he calms down on stressing how honest he is tho.

Statement from the owners
i think the statements always tend to be standard and routine, but that does not mean the club should not release them. i would actually like to hear from jason palmer like we did with jason turner, a regular update gave fans something to be optimistic about. palmer tends to get a lot of credit for things at least by the club, without any communication with us and i am sure hes a busy person but his report with us fans should be of high importance. i am glad jatta has extended, i do think he will be gone before the end of his deal but provided we get good money for him it will be fine.

Squad Registration
i cant say i thought there would be any difference from the updated registration, it seemed likely that some needed to go and i am surprise we have not agreed mutual terms for jack hinchy to leave. i dont think he was bad, but he has not been great and is someone we can easily do better replacing.
-
Curtis Edwards leaves
i liked him, i thought he was good but i do agree he never seemed the same. i think he was more frozen out of the squad because the club wanted to inject more pace and thats the one area he is not all that blessed in. hes quick enough, but not all that fast and i think it shows how we need to get the best out of players even after injuries. i hope curtis edwards does well with his next club.

Who's your Man of the Match v Fleetwood?
i have voted for rod mcdonald because i thought he really did shine in defence, some of his long ball passes really paid off winning corners or allowing us to break beyond fleetwoods back line. its good we have a defender who can do this, whilst commanding and organising the back. its not a surprise we are doing better with mcdonald in this type of form.
