  1. I was hesitant to reply to this, as we’ve heard about the manager of the month award having a curse. I really think this topic has jinxed us. We were looking so strong, but then things took a turn for the worse. People started saying that Stuart Maynard was under pressure, even though we were third in the league table. The change we’ve seen is incredible. It’s impressive how much we’ve improved, and despite the challenges, we are managing them and finding solutions. I see no reason to doubt Maynard now. I believe he has earned our full support, and I am encouraged by both his progress and that of the team.
  2. Yes, that’s true, @Piethagoram. I believe it also caused some problems, as I remember reading that we were fined for it. I think the fine was related to the sponsor rather than the actual decision, but my memory on this is a bit hazy now. The shirts were auctioned off, and some of the players wanted to keep them. However, some of these match-worn shirts that are sold or included in sponsorship packages aren’t even worn in matches. I don’t see an issue with second or third kits when they are needed, but I don’t think limited edition kits should be used in League Two.

  4. Class performance by George Abbott. I can see how the poll would be close, but over time Abbott has been the standout performer. He was good on the ball, did well out wide, and wasn't afraid to get stuck in. His performance was everything we needed. I'm pleased to see him doing well in the votes. He's a strong candidate for it.

  6. It’s good to hear Matt Palmer’s thoughts ahead of the game. However, I don’t think the interviewer needed to mention the playoff final so much. That is in the past. The focus should be on a typical League Two game, even if it’s a derby against Chesterfield. It’s great to hear about the playoff final, but from the question point of view, it’s all hype. This only leads to some fans having higher expectations. We need to take it as it comes, see how both teams prepare, and just try to get a good result away from home.
  7. You are welcome, @Wheelbarrow repair man. I’m glad you found the help you needed. Don’t forget, you can always reach out to any of the team if you need assistance.
  8. The game looks like it will end in a draw. Chesterfield aren’t setting the league alight, and the hype is more about the rivalry between the teams. They haven’t met since the National League Playoff Final, which adds to the anticipation. If Notts defends well and creates chances, the game shouldn’t be disappointing. If either team wins, it will likely be by a single goal. Chesterfield has drawn many games recently, so it’s hard to predict a clear winner. It seems like one of those games our fans will look forward to, but might find lacklustre on the day. I would be happy with a point.
  9. It wasn’t that long ago that the same person replied to an “On this day” post on the PON Facebook page, talking about Ian. Someone mentioned that he had been present at one of the former players’ events held at Notts. There are some colourful people on that site. I loved the comment from the person calling the other chap boring.
  10. It’s no surprise that Burton are struggling with all the departures and changes they have made. I don’t think they will be relegated from League One, but they need to start showing signs of improvement. It shows how fortunate we are to have retained many of our best players. Even though we have sold some, in football terms, that would be considered a success.

  15. It’s a good idea to keep track of injuries. I wish Notts would provide a bit more information when they can. Some teams are very prompt with injury updates, and sometimes we are too. Obviously, with long-term injuries, there’s not much to say, but a monthly update could go a long way.

  17. The Pride of Nottingham is clearly a labour of love for you, gaffer. It’s great to see the Faces of PON. These pictures are absolutely stunning! I hope the fans who feature really see how much Notts means to you and enjoy seeing themselves captured sharing their passion for the club. The photo of the guy holding what I assume to be his child is a great capture!

  19. They are friendlier than kangaroos, but they can still deliver a powerful kick if they feel threatened. I hope they are all safely rounded up; it can't just be one.
  20. It's fantastic to see Jodi Jones receiving this PON achievement. He performed very well before his injury. This recognition will be a great encouragement for him when he returns.
  21. After work, I will be travelling by train to Nottingham. My dad will pick me up so I can go to Meadow Lane and watch Notts play against Port Vale. Work has become more enjoyable, but it’s also a lot more demanding. At least football doesn’t rot your brain! Good morning, everyone!
  22. Hello, welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @Jackie May. You will be made welcome, and encouraged as part of the community if you join in.
  23. The game would have been very different without the early goal. It might have put Notts under more pressure, so we need to ensure we can keep possession, play the ball out from the back, and create attacks. In the second half, we posed no threat at all, and we were quite lucky at times, with Carlisle unable to get past a strong Alex Bass. Defensively, we were solid, and we had some decent chances in the first half to take more shots. A better team would have punished us for how poorly we attacked in the final 45 minutes. Carlisle are a capable team, but their poor form was evident, especially in their finishing. They should take a lot away from this game and look to improve, but we also need to learn from our performance in the second half.
  24. Port Vale are a strong team, and I believe they will pose a greater threat in attack than Gillingham did. They have much more pace and creativity when it comes to creating chances. They could turn out to be one of the better teams we face at home this season. A good start would involve Notts keeping hold of the ball and using it to assess Vale's strengths and weaknesses. I hope we don't see too many changes in the lineup, as the team tends to perform better when it remains settled. However, Stuart Maynard has had to make adjustments due to injuries and fatigue. I don’t expect there to be more than two goals scored in the match.
  25. Stuart Maynard is doing everything he can to win over those who are still not behind him. More fans seem to be supporting him, and we are in a good position thanks to his guidance. His coaching and training are getting the best out of this squad. I am glad the team managed to close down and prevent Carlisle from scoring. It shows we can make changes and still cope with the momentum swinging in favour of the opposition team.
