  1. Hopefully, Notts will be able to break through Colchester's organised defence. Keeping fingers crossed!
  2. Norwich City 0-0 Birmingham City QPR 2-0 Coventry City Port Vale 1-2 Bolton Wanderers Joker Reading 2-0 Burton Albion Gillingham 1-1 Mansfield Town Salford City 0-1 Newport County Halifax Town 1-0 Eastleigh Rochdale 1-0 Southend United
  3. It’s evident that the confidence has escalated with each match, contributing significantly to the overall performances. Sam Austin is an exceptional player. I appreciate his straightforward approach and his relentless focus on advancing the ball. Possessing a player like him, who exudes confidence with the ball, provides a multitude of attacking options.
  4. I concur that Sam Graham started off well, but he quickly faded into obscurity and became ineffective. I lost my regard for him after that, and when he returned for the second time, I seriously questioned the rationale behind it.
  5. The goal was a stunner, but the build-up was equally commendable. The patient approach appears to be increasingly adopted these days.
  6. He appeared rather ineffective for us, a tall, gangly defender who seemed to lack any sense of balance.
  7. The highlights from Forest Green are indeed impressive, with the low angle lending a contemporary feel to the match. It’s clear that Connell Rawlinson did clip their player, but it seems he was justified in his attempt, making the decision appear severe. Their player wasn’t poised to score a goal and even handled the ball after contact was made. If Rawlinson was the first to make contact, I would dispute the decision.
  8. The victory is paramount, and it’s evident that Forest Green Rovers put up a commendable fight. Despite appearing defeated before the second half, they demonstrated remarkable persistence. Particularly in the early stages of the second half, they performed exceptionally well to equalise. However, we displayed our superiority thereafter, treating their comeback more as a wake-up call. We mustn’t become complacent during matches like these, but it’s reassuring to know we possess the quality to turn things around. Even at 35, David McGoldrick is proving to be a sophisticated addition to the squad!
  9. Hello, welcome to PON @Ryan Raynor. Jump in with the content when you can.
  10. The podcast does discuss potential amendments that could enhance the situation regarding debt in football. I concur that the deduction of points does dissuade some owners, but not all. In the future, such changes should be implemented across all clubs under FIFA’s regulations.
  11. Hello, and welcome to PON @Benji.
  12. Jimmy Sirrel was always deeply involved in training, maintaining his fitness by participating in team practices. The squad would train on The Embankment, adjacent to The River Trent, and I would observe their sessions from afar. Today’s players may not fully appreciate the privileges they enjoy.
  13. Welcome @Terri. PON is a good site and well worth visiting, welcome from me.
  14. My respect for Williams has grown even more after his reflections on the match. Criticizing aspects despite the win truly shows his commitment to growth and improvement, which is admirable. His approach in always looking to learn, even from a victory - that's something not many managers dare to do candidly. He's honest, practical, and always looking for ways to get better. Hats off to him.
  15. Luton Town need to start securing more than just draws, but regardless of whether they do or not, I wish them the best of luck with their incredible triumph.
  16. Best of luck, Neil! You’ve been a manager who has contributed significantly to each of the clubs you’ve managed, and I thank you for all your efforts whilst managing Notts. Enjoy your retirement! Explore the world and live your life free from stress.
  17. Just be kind to one another, lads and lasses. There’s no need for confrontation, but equally, there’s no need to be overly offended by something so trivial. The tweet could have been more constructive and without jabs, but unless Connell Rawlinson explains his choice of words, everyone should simply move on.
  18. A spectacular game! Seeing Notts manage to maintain their lead despite strong opposition was thrilling. Crowley and Langstaff kickstarting the game with their goals was electrifying. Witnessing how Notts County still managed to retake the lead with strategic substitutions after Deeney’s hat-trick added an extra edge to the game. We are rightfully on top of the table!
  19. Leeds United 2-2 Watford Swansea City 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday Cambridge United 0-1 Port Vale Portsmouth 1-1 Lincoln City Morecambe 0-2 Swindon Town Joker Stockport County 1-2 Wrexham Gateshead 1-0 Maidenhead United Oldham Athletic 0-0 Oxford City
  20. Adam’s story really touched me. He loves his club a lot, even when times are hard. I was moved by how he found comfort in football and his mates when he was having a tough time. This shows how important football is - it’s more than just a game, it’s a lifeline. It’s lovely to see how the Magpies fans stick together, whether they win or lose.
  21. Luke Williams is performing exceptionally well and given time, I’m confident he will begin to integrate our own talent into the squad, assuming we can keep him on as manager. I think League One and Two are areas where we could make more of an effort to recruit players who have been offered professional deals from the academy. The youth I saw during the pre-season was promising, but seasoned players will always provide valuable mentorship. I hope we can persuade Jim O’Brien to remain with us as a coach, rather than moving to Sheffield United.
  22. I believe Gary Owers is a wise addition to this.
  23. Dan Crowley is undoubtedly in excellent form, and it’s clear that all the preparation and hard work put into training is benefiting Notts. With Luke Williams orchestrating the strategy, it’s heartening to see Notts building on last season’s momentum and advancing. One can only speculate how the Reedtz brothers are feeling about this season. The availability of three automatic promotion spots certainly gives us a target to strive for.
  24. I don’t believe Luke Williams will be glancing at the league table and assuming that Forest Green Rovers will be a walk in the park. This is far from the truth, but the Notts players simply need to make things difficult by maintaining possession of the ball. We are fortunate to have such an abundance of talent, making it hard to envision how a team that’s currently struggling could compete against a strong side. However, this could serve as additional motivation for them. I’m pleased that the match is taking place at Meadow Lane, but I do have concerns about the weather and whether rain might slow the pace of the game. The silver lining is that Notts has the ability to slow down games to suit their style, leaving it up to FGR to seize any opportunities during the match. I’m confident that opportunities will arise, but the absence of Aaron Nemane will be felt.
  25. Neal Bishop, a father of two growing children, has undoubtedly had less time with his family due to his football career. His managerial responsibilities would have further reduced this time. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if he has chosen to step down in order to enjoy better quality time with his family.
