Match Discussion: League Two - Harrogate Town (A)
The Harrogate match is a must win match. Notts have to reverse the inconsistency trend that they have demonstrated over the last 8 matches, losing four & winning 4 I think Notts have to win 6 of their last 7 matches including defeating Cambridge to have any chance of automatic promotion. With half dozen senior players such as Norburn, Kouhyar, Hall, Platt, Robertson, & McDonald missing for this match, it's going to be tough for Notts to get a positive result It's time for senior players like Palmer, Bedeau, Jones, Tsaroulla & Jatta to step up & take on leading roles on Saturday & show us what they are made of.

Takeaways from the Oldham (A) Match.
Based on the team performance last evening, the whole squad left standing needs to step up & claim at least a playoff spot which is not yet secured.

Takeaways from the Oldham (A) Match.
Notts still have problems against strong, physical teams that also have pace upfront. They are still susceptable to making catastrophic mistakes at the back. Notts demonstrated against Oldham that they are still vunerable to the Counter attack that has plagued them since their return to League 2. Notts lacked discipline against Oldham with a player recieving two yellow cards resulting in his sending off & two other players recieving yellow cards. It a worrying trend, that is hurting them massively. The team appeared to give up after the sending off & failed to create any meaningful opportunities afterwards. There appeared to be a lack of leadership from all the senior players to rally the team to make a game of it. A great performance in the previous match against Cheltenham to the complete opposite against Oldham which demonstrates a lack of consistency that a team challenging for promotion requires.

Who's your Man of the Match v Oldham?
I agree with others. I thought Tom Iorpenda was far above anyone else. Its concerning that our senior players failed to step up to the plate especially when Norburn was dismissed.

Discipline
Our lack of discipline is going to cost us an automatic promotion place. With the injuries starting to pile up too, it's a big headache for Martin Paterson. I think Norburn might have a two game ban instead of just the one game due to his 2nd red card of the season. Notts have been accused of not being physical enough which has cost us in recent seasons, but lack of discipline is different to showing physicality in games. It's just a self inflicted wound. Notts are in fourth place in the League 2 Poor discipline league. English League Two Discipline Stats, 2025-26 Season - ESPN (UK) https://share.google/nu5d07BUpk8me2n8W

Rod McDonald injury
That's a massive blow for Notts with Matty Platt already out for the rest of the season. Macari, Platt, Bedeau, & McDonald had a great understanding together. I'm not sure if Macari, Bedeau & Ness have the same. And we now only have young Browne as cover for any other injury that might happen to one of those three senior defenders.

Who's your Man of the Match v Oldham?
A very dissapointing evening at Oldham. Poor conditions with a strong wind and rain. The sending off of Ollie Norburn didn't help the Notts cause especially facing the wind in the 2nd half. So who stood out for Notts in a very dissapointing performance! I have not included Norburn in the final list of players for you to choose your favourite. That list of players are:- Belshaw, Macari, Ness, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Palmer, Jones, Grant, Iorpenda, Jatta.

It's true I'm afraid. Looks like Browne will be needed at least on the bench from now on.

Match Discussion: League 2 - Oldham Athletic (A)
The defeat tonight is the biggest defeat for Notts since Dec 2024. Oldham are certainly on a roll & have a good chance on their present from of making the playoffs. They thoroughly deserved the win tonight. The conditions tonight didn't suit Notts but we did have the best o it for the first 30 minutes even though we conceded early. Jatta should have done better with his opportunity from a great Jodi cross. On tonight's showing, Oldham may have well win the match without the Norburn sending off but Ollie's 2nd yellow card was always going to make it hard for Notts, especially facing the strong wind too. Listened to Martin Paterson's post match presser and it's not good news about Rod McDonald. He could be out for the rest of the season after the injury he sustained against Cheltenham. Notts have to try to put this game behind them & come out all guns blazing at Harrogate on Saturday in a must win match.
