Swindon Town have three very good loan players on their books, all three of them should become vital parts in their progress for this season. They are a team that can have slow starts, but it doesn't change the fact that every game is different, and they will try to be a very organised team at home. I think the game will be quite even in the first half, as players tire and subs are made, that is when I think the game will become more lively.

I have voted and I voted for Dan Crowley. Before I talk about why I chose Crowley, I would like to say that Jodi Jones and Alassana Jatta also deserve to be in the running. Both have been a big part of our team in August. Jatta has scored in the league and in the League Cup. Jodi has been incredible when we needed a push. He helped us get the draw we deserved against Fleetwood. I chose Crowley because I think he has been in better form.

Honestly, I think his time as the England manager is overlooked because of the 'Golden Generation'. But he was not a bad manager. His time at Leicester City and Manchester City were two exciting periods of his career. It shocked the footballing world when he came to Meadow Lane. People said he was only there for the money, but he insisted he saw us as an ambitious project. He proved them wrong by leaving and not asking for his wages. He deserves a lot of respect for that. He was a very kind person.

His football career was truly remarkable, he was a natural goal scorer. Since our record-breaking season and promotion from the National League, I’ve read quite a bit about him. His talent and contributions to football should be honoured and remembered. This is an excellent read that highlights his life. Tom Keetley is a true Notts legend, deserving of recognition. It’s a shame it took Macaulay Langstaff to bring him back into the spotlight, but at least his grave is no longer unmarked. His headstone will now ensure he is remembered.

I would be more concerned if we weren't showing signs of improvements, and whilst Grimsby is just one game. If this type of form continues, then it would be an advantage to Notts. I don't see either leaving before this transfer window closes, I don't see Notts accepting a bid as enough. It could lead to lower offers in January. If any developments occur, Notts could once again reject or request a higher fee. Football, however, can be unpredictable, and I will be happier when the window closes. Just keep in mind that offers can be agreed outside the transfer window, so it wouldn't be complete comfort once it does close. It just means the next window sees the deal become official. If our form can continue, both Dan Crowley and Jodi Jones see that the club is moving forward. They might agree to extend their stay, I think Jones might be tempted to do this for a year. Crowley is a bit more difficult to speculate about.

I've observed that Alex Bass consistently calls out for Alassana Jatta to aid in defending corners. His height and speed are two areas which give us an advantage, but his ball control and ability to hold up play is outstanding. He's a good finisher too. No doubt the best striker we have at the club, but I do agree with comments about playing Cedwyn Scott as a striker too. Jatta will get goals, because he's well above the level of League Two, and he fits our system incredibly well.

He has to be very unfortunate or have something that is causing him to be prone to ACL injuries. The move to Burton would have been good had this not happened, when he signed for them, I did feel surprised that they did with his injury last season. Where this leaves him now, I wouldn't want to suggest, but it's hard to see how you can come back stronger and remain with a team at that level. I sincerely hope it doesn't impact his career, but it's unfortunate to be part of football.

It's a nice story, which I hope works out for him because it could be a dream job. I was torn between working in football or general journalism, before I had my heart set on attending Leeds University. I thought that it could be fun working in football, I decided against it because I wanted to still be able to watch Notts. So, the lure of working within football is understandable.

Your point about us being committed to supporting Stuart Maynard I agree, we should chant his name a lot more. I think more fans are coming round, and I would agree that some use Maynard's former job as an invalid way to discredit him. That's football fans for you! Not all Londoners are unfriendly, but I have noticed when I walk in the street most people have their heads down or are listening to music via headphones or earphones. It does sound like it's a bit ***-for-tat to be honest. I have read some things and with my work place having covered the story, to me, it seems more like someone from the BBC wanted to rid of Jermaine Jenas. Although he has confessed to sending inappropriate texts, he maintains that none of them were illegal. This doesn't mean he was in the right to send the texts and I have heard rumours of him being flirty.

The tempo Notts set was very high, with the chance creation and general play being very exciting to watch. Grimsby were poor in defending, but looked quite comfortable going forward. They reminded me of Notts against Tranmere, so I do think we defended better. Their goal was frustrating at the time, as it could have been a clean sheet, but it's all positives at the end of the day. I went home happy and encouraged, I can see players working well together. It would be good to see this continue, I hope it does start to become a consistent part of our game.

When players click together, it can boost everyone’s performance. While people are talking about Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley, there’s another solid player who deserves attention. Curtis Edwards has the ability to do everything needed to make others thrive, gliding around the pitch effortlessly. I thought he played very well. He has the qualities we’ve been looking for in our midfield. He’s a mix of several players but brings his own style from playing overseas. I can see our midfield being just as strong as our defence.

It looks like an excellent bit of business on paper. I am sure Notts has done all their homework, and it’s good to see further strengthening of the defence. I think being strong in each area will help Notts move forward. I don’t see this as a panic signing or anything negative. I see it as the club really wanting to be structured at the back. So, I am delighted we have signed Lucas Ness.
