  1. I wonder if Jim knew that David McGoldrick would strike the ball into the back of the net. After his pass, McGoldrick rode the challenge from the Alfreton Town player. O’Brien just became a spectator and watched the ball fly. It was one of those moments when it looked like someone knew greatness was about to happen. It was a stunning finish!
  2. McGoldrick’s ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations is truly impressive. Instead of allowing missed opportunities to affect his confidence, he maintains a positive attitude and continues to focus on finding the back of the net. This level of mental resilience is admirable and sets a great example for others to follow.
  3. It’s not good to see another English club in trouble. That’s why I feel we need to do more to encourage UK-based owners in football. I think overseas owners are too risky. It’s not about ambition; it’s more about wanting the promise of the riches that higher-up teams can get. Best of luck to Reading.
  4. I’m a season ticket holder too, but we should hopefully get 10-11k for the Grimsby game, if not a few thousand more.
  5. You may be in luck, @Ohh Tommy Johnson. Most fans will be travelling by coach, and I can foresee tickets being available. We should sell out the allocated amount, but it’s not a game for which I see the demand being so high that it won’t be sold on general sale.
  6. Rest in peace, Travor Francis.
  7. Hello, @Steveyward. Welcome to PON!
  8. Hello @George L. Welcome to PON! Your grandfather is quite the chatterbox, don't feel the need to compete but it's lovely to have you here.
  9. The comment about Tobi Adebayo-Rowling being charged up on the bus on the way to games is a wonderful example of the fantastic team spirit that exists within the group. This is the kind of team that younger fans will undoubtedly want to support! It’s incredibly positive to see that the squad is dedicated to intense training and maintaining a high level of focus in their match preparation, while also being able to unwind and share some laughs together.
  10. Hello, welcome to the PON site @JustLikeJuve. This is a good place to discuss Notts.
  11. Alfreton were terrible last season, but I think this time around they will be more structured and able to give Notts a better game. It wouldn’t surprise me if they try to park the bus and counter when Notts don’t have the ball. This time around, it should be a better standard of friendly, as they have made some good signings and now have a less aged squad.
  12. Over the weekend, I mostly channel-hopped, exploring what was on TV and trying to make the most of the films that were available. It’s not something I usually do, and I haven’t done it for some time, but with the rain over the past few days, I actually found it to be quite enjoyable.
  13. This appointment has been long overdue. The club operating without replacing Jason Turner will have been a setback. I realise the club will have wanted to pay their respects, which they did, but the appointment of a new CEO should have been in place for the beginning of the pre-season. I wish Joe Palmer all the best with his switch to Notts. I think the writer wants to make Joe Palmer sound appealing due to the loss of Jason Turner. It’s probably a case of putting in more effort as a way to win him over with fans. It’s very difficult, considering.
  14. Each friendly has given Notts a different type of test, which, from the manager’s perspective, reveals a lot about his squad. Now that Luke Williams is starting to settle the squad down, having a difficult game will give him food for thought. The team will provide instructions and feedback to the players when they rewatch the footage after the game. I don’t see it as a problem that Notts dominated but only scored once; credit to Boston for holding on and proving to be difficult.
  15. It’s inflation for you all. I had no problem paying 20p to use public toilets that are well-maintained and clean. I think it’s a good incentive to keep idiots from making them a total mess. Correction, I say I never had a problem, but actually, there were times when I just didn’t have 20p on me, which is quite frustrating. You dig deep in your pockets, busting to go, and thankfully find one. Now, you have to dig deeper to find two if you’re lucky. They want you to say that 50p would be easier, then before you know it, it will be 50p for a wee and £1 for the other. ????
  16. I bounce around the house, awaiting release back to football. I find the close season to be really boring and uneventful. I very much look forward to the beginning of pre-season, the signings, but not so much the rumours as they tend to always be made up. I mean, out of all the reports linked to us, none of them were correct to my knowledge. However, I am looking forward to the beginning of the season.
  17. This is crazy! Thank goodness nobody was injured or hurt during this. I never would have imagined this happening within the United Kingdom, not even at that level.
  18. I have caught the highlights of some of the games so far, but no full matches. I want to try to catch a few of England’s games. From what I have seen so far, I think it has been a bit subpar. England were lucky to get the VAR decision and then the retaken penalty, as without the technology it might have ended differently.
  19. It will be an excellent opportunity for the club to have a good run out against Boston United, who have a lovely new stadium. This match will provide a chance to see how the club compares against a team with a few familiar faces. I believe that Boston will give Notts the most significant challenge out of all the away pre-season friendlies. However, it’s important to remember that this is just an insight for the coaching team. I am hoping that Boston will try to park the bus, so we can finally see if we are creative enough to break down these types of teams without losing our composure. As for the squad, I am sure that Luke Williams has his team in mind. I agree with those who have expressed their desire for the youngsters to get a chance. I suspect that they will until the start of the season.
  20. I have seen a video of Joss training with Solihull Moors, and the players around him seem very happy. It reminded me of when we signed John Bostock. I wish him well with his new club.
  21. It makes sense to switch John Bostock, but I would have thought it could have been done before the first announcement of the squad numbers.
  22. It’s good to see that the new CEO has finally been appointed. I did wonder if one would be found before the season started. He sounds like a credible candidate. The article reads well, and I hope he continues to invest time in listening to fans. It seems like the club is going to tease his appearance, just like they did with the shirts. ????
  23. Hello, welcome to PON @NewarkMagpie. Pull up a chair and jump in.
  24. Hello, welcome to PON @Nay123. Pull up a chair and jump in.
  25. Adam Chicksen has touched upon many positive things. Returning to the Football League and repeating the push for promotion that we’ve seen us achieve in the National League will be a positive thing. It would be even better if we managed back-to-back promotions, but it’s a lot easier on the club if we finish as high as possible because this lifts the fan base. It would be good to be a better-than-average League Two team, but one pushing for promotion.
