  1. I’m not against a young defender filling in the role, but I think Luke Williams is undecided if we need another CB or not. It’s clear that someone at the club is listening to the fans, but I’m sceptical about this lad or Nathan Claxton.
  2. Solid advice, especially for many of the younger people in this world now.
  3. It’s always good to be able to fall back on former clubs. I hope Michael Doyle enjoys working with the youngsters at Portsmouth. He has a lot of good qualities that should help.
  4. I’m pleased that Callum McGregor got his wish to captain his boyhood club. He always looked class when he played for Notts. It’s also good to see Scotland enjoying some success due to him and many other talented players. The Scottish squad he’s in now is probably the best he’s had for years. He’s not only a Celtic legend but a Scottish legend too.
  5. I will add Pierce Bird, there's quite a few obvious ones.
  6. I drink at the Embankment or Navi. Sometimes, I’ll grab one closer to the city centre, depending on the weather. If it’s sunny, there are plenty of good bars and pubs to go to. I don’t like the MLSB’s pricing or offering. I wouldn’t drink warm lager at half-time either.
  7. I think we might end up being surprised by how other teams give Oldham and Chesterfield a run for their money. I can see Chesterfield’s attempt at buying themselves out of the league failing, if I’m perfectly honest. I just have this feeling that they will bottle it and end up in the playoffs.
  8. I don’t follow any other clubs, at least not in football. I occasionally pay attention to England and Nottinghamshire cricket, but no other clubs in football.
  9. Follow @Chris’s advice, @Fan of Big Tone. There’s no way the computer can be salvaged from that. Do it with the hard drive, unless you can repurpose it. You can download free software that fully wipes the drives and prevents any form of data recovery. If you’re technologically minded, follow a guide on it.
  10. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @BeestonPie. Join in if you get chance.
  11. Concise yet deep insight into what's going on with the players currently. The transparency Williams provides, especially regarding player injuries, is commendable. The minor injuries don’t seem to be a cause for alarm since they’re part and parcel of pre-season training. I appreciate the careful management of player welfare shown here, there's a long season ahead and it's important that everyone’s up for it.
  12. I haven’t seen the full interview, but I don’t really need to watch it to understand that he has had difficulties. Spurs might not have known completely what Dele Alli was experiencing. It’s normal for people suffering from depression to put on a brave face and the communication between them most likely wasn’t the best. I do feel that more support should have been given, but at least he found that at Everton. I think once he realises his demons don’t control him, his football should return to the standard it was before and hopefully, the experience makes him stronger. Not that I believe depression has made him weak; it does give someone a lot to learn from though.
  13. In my opinion, there are far better audio clips of Charlie Slater, including those with Mak Stallard, than the one where he overdoes his words when Michael Doyle scored his wonder goal. My favourites from the past season, not because Notts gained promotion, but because of the more genuine celebrations and the phrase coined “get in” by Stallard.
  14. I am less bothered about the friendlies from here on, so I hope the plan is to involve the youngsters again. Give the first team the second half, field the youngsters and take off those who struggle in favour of the main players. Give the lads some more time, as they have done well.
  15. It’s good to have all the scholars signed up. I noticed yesterday that the club’s U19s link had gone down, and this makes sense. It’s good to see so many prospects sign, but it’s not enough to stop here. The club needs to encourage first-team professionals to help bring the youngsters through. Find a mentor for Cisse, as he’s class; Aaron Nemane would be a suitable fit.
  16. Excellent article, @Simon Clark! Tranmere does indeed seem like a tantalising away day. A good old-fashioned ground with a great atmosphere. The beer tent gathering sounds like a perfect place to dissect the game and hopefully toast our boys' triumph! Also, I love how you’ve recognised the efforts of the volunteers and workers at Salford. Despite the negative press, it’s touching to hear about the folks who strengthen the spirit of local football.
  17. The defender did well against Forest. Hopefully, he’ll get more game time in friendlies to show his abilities.
  18. Although fixture changes can be frustrating, we must accept them and focus on the positives. The game is winnable with the right approach.
  19. Best Signing: Jodi Jones Highest Goal Scorer: Macaulay Langstaff Most Improved Player of the Season: Richard Brindley Most Starts in the Season: Sam Slocombe Best partnership between two players: Dan Crowley and Macaulay Langstaff
  20. "The applause from the fans" truly resonated with me too. It shows the spirit and bond of the Nottingham community. The fans, with their support and passion are indeed a crucial part of the club. The ability to respectfully acknowledge each other's efforts despite rivalry adds to both teams' charm and of course the saddening loss our city experienced.
  21. Charlie’s commentary of Notts County games has shown his deep understanding of football and connection with the club. He succeeded Colin Slater and has a strong bond with the fans.
  22. In all these years of listening to Charlie commentate Notts County games, I’ve come to appreciate the depth of his understanding of football and his connection with the club. It's not often that one finds a narrator who has such a bond with the fans. He filled the shoes of Colin Slater remarkably well, which is no easy feat. Charlie, you may be leaving the commentator's box, but you will always be 'one of our own'!
  23. This time its proving to be a lot harder, but Sean Newton is one.
