  1. Yes, I agree. Luke Williams has used the friendlies to gain a better understanding of where his squad stands. It’s positive to see how he has managed the games. Notts did well in parts against Shrewsbury, but I believe they will improve from here. The squad has a lot of depth and plenty of options. I would also like to see more of Junior Morias and Will Randall.
  2. Ian Burchnall is in the past now and for good reasons; good luck to him as an assistant manager. One day, I hope he does become a manager again but he needs to work on much of his managerial skills alongside his attitude and decisions when it comes to his career’s best projection.
  3. I don’t think young players should be allowed to move until they are old enough; I think 14 is a bit young and 16 seems to be the age where I think young players are mature enough to take that step up. Some may disagree; I just see no point in uprooting youngsters or making their lives a difficult balance.
  4. I like that Luke Williams puts across his thoughts and process in detail. You can see he’s being careful, as to look after the players and balance our expectations. As fans, we want to see the same level of commitment and results as last season, but we also need to be mindful that it is a new challenge. The squad will have a lot of pressure on them to do well, we have the depth and quality. On the pitch, it comes down to taking the chances and working hard, we’ll see in time just where this squad is and I have faith Williams can push it further. It’s just good to be at the stage where the season is finally upon us again.
  5. Both teams had spells where you could see that the friendly was against two good teams, I don’t think either squad lifted themselves to a level you would expect in a league and that for me is perfectly fine. Notts, in my opinion, should have won 2-1, but a draw is fair considering.
  6. It’s a good job the club is ready for League Two because it starts in a week’s time! The pre-season has been a good insight, Luke Williams and the coaching team have all played their parts. Conditioning the team ahead of the league’s start is a good thing and as for injuries, none of them sound very concerning at all.
  7. Luke Williams is quite careful, I think he’s also trying to balance our expectations. The team will have a lot of pressure on them to go forward and produce another good season. The squad has the depth and quality, it’s all about timing and taking our chances from here. 10 games in, we’ll be able to see how things are going properly. I think Notts will do well, even if we start off slowly.
  8. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham site, @David Shipston. Your name rings a bell to me for some reason, do you sit in the Pavis Stand and have regularly done the hospitality over the years?
  9. It sounds like a very good signing. Notts taking in a loan option gives some flexible options for Notts. I don’t think there’s a need to go out and rush just to sign anyone. I don’t believe it’s a panic loan; more than likely, the club hasn’t identified reachable targets who may be out of our reach or just not interested.
  10. It’s a superb team photo; everything looks spot on, from the grass and stands to the players.
  11. Three to four might have been justified due to the distance, but that is beyond luxury. Hopefully, Wrexham will change their stance on this. I don’t think Notts fans have to get a bee in their bonnet on social media about it.
  12. Hello, welcome to PON everyone! I hope you join in with us.
  13. There's so much to admire in David McGoldrick's attitude. He's proving himself a valuable mentor for the young players by demonstrating the importance of physical fitness and continuous learning. With such a positive mindset leading the way.
  14. I am surprised that Jim O'Brien hasn't been mentioned yet.
  15. I would keep Luther around and allow him to be part of the B team, but I would send Mahovo out on loan.
  16. Glorious display from McGoldrick in this pre-season win. His dedication and skills are truly commendable. His goal was indeed a standout moment and his interview post-match shows how humble and determined he is. It's not just his performance on the field, it’s also the positivity he brings to the team. I am looking forward to seeing Notts County face Shrewsbury Town.
  17. This is a very interesting article about the recent history of Reading Football Club. It’s sad to see how a financial gamble on reaching the Premier League has turned into a League One nightmare for the club and its fans. The article provides a detailed account of the events that led to the current situation, including the takeover by Chinese businessman Dai Yongge and his sister Dai Xiu Li, and the subsequent penalties and punishments for breaching financial regulations. It’s clear that the supporters feel disconnected from the club they love, and it’s important that their concerns are heard and addressed. Hopefully, Reading can turn things around and regain the success they once had.
  18. The stunt will put a lot of eyes on the message that they were trying to reveal, and that is probably why they did it, but it’s just madness. I do hope charges are issued, but at the same time, the claims made on the flyers need to be looked into properly too. Remember, the police are quite known for turning a blind eye to child abuse if it makes them look bad.
  19. Good luck to Michael Doyle, it’s a bit of a step back for someone who wanted to be an assistant manager, but a good opportunity to move forward.
  20. No Jesse Debrah at @ARLukomski? Are there any players you would add to the list now that have not been signed by anyone?
  21. Ha! The Non-league paper will be missed for this reason; they were always fair on Notts and never biased.
  22. Rest in peace, Trevor Francis. As a player, I always felt he was overrated, but I don’t deny he contributed to football. It’s also saddening to see him leave this world aged only 69.
  23. Andy Dallas is getting a big step up, but he should do fine for them. They have a decent enough squad that won’t require him to score instantly, but if he hits the ground running, their fans will be happy.
  24. Good run out for Notts, some might complain we won too easily, but you can only beat what’s in front of you. Alfreton really struggled, but again it shows that Luke Williams doesn’t need to panic about us not being able to break down teams that defend heavily. It’s all down to putting away the chances you create or enough of them.
  25. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham site, @Steveyward.
