  1. A hearty congratulations to you, @Piethagoram, for being chosen as the Pride of Nottingham Member of the Year for 2023! Your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed and you have been rightfully recognised by your peers. Well done!
  2. Notts County has demonstrated a strong performance throughout the season and if they are able to maintain their focus and composure during the match on Saturday, they stand a good chance of emerging victorious. On the other hand, Chesterfield has had its ups and downs but has shown significant improvement towards the end of the season. Finishing in 3rd place in the league is certainly a commendable achievement for them.
  3. Jodi Jones excelled on Sunday, but I felt that we could have benefited from more players performing at their best rather than just being average. Adam Chicksen was barely involved, delivering some neat crosses but not living up to his full potential. Even Ruben Rodrigues and Sam Austin seemed to be just above average.
  4. Fantastic job on the graphics, @Chris. You truly possess a remarkable talent that deserves to be displayed.
  5. Hello @Canadian. I recall you and it’s great to see that you’ve found your way back to the site.
  6. This kind of gesture can bring fans together and promote positivity in the football community. It’s important to remember that we’re all in this together and should support each other, even if we’re rooting for different teams.
  7. I was on the edge of my seat! Notts has a history of struggling in important matches. Boreham Wood's first goal was skillfully executed, but Notts' defense was lacking. Some fans thought Sam Slocombe could have done more, but the real issue was a lapse in defensive focus. The second goal was a disastrous mistake. In the second half, Notts played more like their usual selves. If their first goal had come later, the outcome may have been different. Penalties are always nerve-wracking, but Luke Williams' decision to switch Jodi Jones and Aaron Nemane proved successful.
  8. No matter how many changes occur or who is in charge, Notts always struggles to rise to the occasion when it comes to big games. The first goal was actually very well constructed by Boreham Wood, but the defending was typical of Notts in games like this. It is frustrating to hear comments during the game that fans actually believed Sam Slocombe should have done better. The error was switching off defensively and failing to react well enough to cut out the original mistake of allowing them through so easily. The second goal was a nightmare of a mistake. The poor pass was always going to invite danger and the Boreham Wood player did well to win the ball and go on to score. Again, these defensive issues are too common in big games. It’s like our players start off as jelly moulds and require time to set. The second half was more like the Notts we know from this season, with smooth passes and a constant threat. Had the first goal for Notts gone in later, I believe it would have ended in their favour. We scored at the right moments, including the winner. Penalties are never kind or good to watch; that is where the home advantage ends. Thankfully, we had enough class and Luke Williams’ decision to switch Jodi Jones and Aaron Nemane paid off.
  9. I believe Luke Williams has a strong sense of management and combines traditional style with a modern approach. He has excelled in getting the best out of the entire squad, and the signings he has suggested and recruited align with his vision for how he wants Notts County to play. I think his greatest asset is his openness and hands-on approach to coaching; players respond well to someone who isn’t afraid to get involved. His in-game tactics are generally very good; he understands the game and how it unfolds. Having a good squad makes his job easier, but getting the players to embrace his philosophy has made the club more formidable. The style and performances have been impressive, and I hope he continues to employ this approach moving forward.
  10. Mark Stallard’s partner will be questioning him about the audio in which he sounds very energetic and excited that Notts was able to score the winning goal.
  11. Boreham Wood's goals were all handed to them. Notts had a very poor and unimpressive first half. Boreham Wood's attacking play was good and they put a lot of pressure on Notts. However, they had difficulty when Notts' quality became more dominant.
  12. I am fortunate to have grown up watching Notts during their best periods in English football. Before the Premier League was formed, many people followed two or three football teams as a side hobby. My Uncle and Grandfather watched games from teams around the Midlands area, including Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Mansfield Town. I had no such issue, as there were plenty of Notts fans in my school and no active rivalry with Forest. I think this has become more dominant in modern times since the Premier League was formed as an “elite rebranding”. I am fortunate to be my own boss and have taken over my family’s business, which is located in Nottingham. Most of my employees support London-based clubs and have season tickets to West Ham, Chelsea and Spurs. The 80s are remembered by many as one of the best decades in English football. I have seen Forest fans try to wind up Notts fans when I have been in Nottingham and vice versa. I think Forest fans do it out of a deluded sense of pride that they are a bigger club.
  13. The story of Asbjorn Halvorsen and Otto Fritz ‘Tull’ Harder is a powerful reminder of the choices individuals make and the impact they can have on others. It’s a tragic story of two former friends whose lives took very different paths during a difficult time in history. Well worth a read!
  14. Macaulay Langstaff has undoubtedly been the Signing of the Season for Notts. He has seamlessly integrated into the team and has become an integral player. His goals, performances, attitude and desire to succeed as part of a team make him the clear choice for this accolade.
  15. Choosing the Player of the Season is a difficult task for me, as it is for many others. There are numerous serious contenders, but if I had to narrow it down, my top choices would be Adam Chicksen, Macaualay Langstaff and Matt Palmer. Sam Slocombe also deserves a special mention for his brilliant performances since joining Notts. This season has truly demonstrated his importance to the team. Without him in goal, the club might not have been in such close contention for the title. The same can be said for Macaulay Langstaff and Adam Chicksen, who have both delivered outstanding performances. Ultimately though, consistency must be the deciding factor when determining who should be named.
  16. What a game it was between Wrexham and Notts County! The final score may have been 3-2, but John Bostock’s screamer of a goal was definitely a highlight. And let’s not forget about Ben Foster’s heroics in the final minute, saving Scott’s penalty to secure the victory for Wrexham. Truly an unforgettable match!
  17. I have to say that John Bostock’s free kick against Wrexham was an absolute beauty. Not only was it a superb strike, but it was an excellent goal that managed to beat the experienced Ben Foster.
  18. I’ve renewed my season ticket and I reckon it’s clever of the club to do it so promptly. Seasons like the previous one and the prospect of promotion provide fans with more incentive to renew. If the best outcome transpires, we could witness the highest season ticket uptake for at least a decade. I would renew regardless, but I don’t blame anyone for not doing so. It’s a considerable amount of money, but the positive aspect is that it enables the club to commence early on securing new signings and affording contract renewals where increased pay may be desired.
  19. Welcome @JohnTheBost! We’re glad to have you here. Keep pushing forward and never give up.
  20. I’ve just submitted my ballot for Member of the Year! Wishing all the candidates the best of luck and keep up the amazing work.
  21. It would be great to see new deals being offered to the majority of players. Jim O’Brien has a lot to offer and could be a valuable backup/rotational player, sharing his experience with younger players such as Frank Vincent, who has shown potential but has been inconsistent at times. Sam Slocombe could remain for another one or two seasons, but after that the focus should shift towards developing younger players like Tiernan Brooks. A pacey striker or someone who can hold up the ball like Kyle Wootton used to do is needed. A defender who can also play on the left would be ideal. The midfield is in good shape and if Jodi Jones signs permanently there will be little need for additional players. It’s a positive development that Notts is no longer relying heavily on the loan market as it has in the past. Losing a player like Ryan Yates can cause problems, as can signing an entirely new team every season.
  22. Wrexham has been a formidable opponent throughout the season. If they weren’t in the league, Notts would have been crowned champions, which would have been amazing. However, I have no problem congratulating Wrexham and their fans. It’s heartening to see that many Wrexham supporters have expressed their hope that we will be promoted.
  23. As the season draws to a close, it’s crucial for Notts County to remain vigilant and not become overconfident. The team has put in a lot of effort to reach this point and it would be unfortunate to falter now. Finishing the season on a high note can give them an extra boost as they head into the playoffs. A resounding 5-0 victory for Notts County would be an amazing way to end the season. It would send a strong message to their rivals that they are a formidable opponent and ready to compete at the highest level. Such a dominant win could set the stage for a successful playoff run.
  24. It’s positive news leading into the York game and the playoffs that he has agreed to a new 2-year deal. His consistency has been pivotal to this season’s success, so it’s great to see him committing to the club for another two years. This bodes well for the team’s future prospects and is sure to boost morale heading into the playoffs.
  25. While I have a passion for various sports and enjoy the challenge of juggling them all, Notts County holds a special place in my heart and remains my top priority when it comes to sports. I make it a point to never miss a Saturday home match. Only an exceptional circumstance could keep me away. In fact, I find it more challenging to stay away from the club than to make time for other things in my life. That’s just how important Notts County is to me!
